$5,000 for being born?

Today during my daily routine surf around the Internet I saw a very short article on something that presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said. “Every newborn should get a $5,000 bond from the government. The reasons she gives for this are simple. The cost of college is skyrocketing along with the cost of buying a home. This is what the money could be used for once the child is 18. The catch they must finish high school.

Right now this is just an idea. I think a good idea if it can be done.  Many people can not afford college out of high school. I was one of them. I refused to spend any money until I was sure of what I wanted to do, then a year later I figured it out and still could not afford it. Eventually I got into college for one reason. My father was sick and only made 8,000 that year. My parents were divorced so I had him fill out all the paperwork. The sad thing about this. I still had to pull out loans to pay for school. When my fathers and I combined income was only $15,000, sad right?

Like most programs I think this should be run by the federal government as state governments can not afford to do this at all. I know Michigan can’t, right now there facing a shut down because they can’t figure out how to create a budget. I have an idea. TAKE A PAY CUT! That would solve the problem. Of course we all know that will never happen.

You can read this short article on Clinton’s idea by checking out CNN.com

Football and baby’s

I have a good friend of mine who is a huge Penn State football fan and he thinks that there the greatest. Now I am a Michigan fan and last week they beat Penn state. My friend is convinced that it was a glitch.

Anyway I’ve been looking around for a blanket for his son who is due any day now. He’s really excited about it and I thought it would be nice to get a penn state blanket for him. Being I live in Michigan it’s hard. I found a few online places and I could order from them. I just hope it’s here in time for the baby.

This is why I love the internet. you can get anything online. If it wasn’t for the internet I would not have been able to get that blanket and I wouldn’t be writing to you about it.

Fall into a vacation

This year I personally am not going to be able to take the trip we usually take up north to see the colors in the trees. My parents do have a wedding to go to so they are going to be taking the trip and have been looking through vacation rentals to see where they can get a good deal and find some great color.

Michigan has some great fall color the U.P or upper peninsula has not only great color but waterfalls and hiking trails that provide great photo opportunities. Theres also the hills and the mountain area if you get fair enough up north, yes Michigan does have mountains, there very small, but you still get that ear popping effect. It is a really great state to travel in as theres so much to see. Yes I’m plugging my state, we need all the help we can get!

Bring your plastic to life.

I have an older car and I have been looking to replace the plastic covers on my lights as they are scratched and horrible looking, not to mention they also make my lights dimmer so it’s harder to see when driving at night.

Walking through Wal-Mart the other day I found a product called Plast X. I took a look at it and thought you know for $5 I could try it out. I expected it not to work well and was surprised when it did. It cleared most of the scratches right up and now my car looks better and I can see better at night. Of course it’s still a 10 year old car and now I need to fix the other problems! Right now thought this has taken care of one I was worried about as I do alot of night driving going back and forth to school.

A new Camera

I’m starting to look for a new digital camera. Now that I’m doing photographic Thursdays. I wanted to get you all some nice pictures. Fall is here in Michigan and soon the leaves will start to change and I live in farm land the perfect place to take fall pictures. I’ve already found at least 10 spots to head out too and no I won’t be posting them all. but I may figure out so meting else to do with them I was thinking of getting my little sisters a digital photo frame to put in there apartment and load it with pictures from home. There college students and don’t have time to get home much.

My problem right now is my only camera is my video camera that takes pictures. I love it, but I need something that can do more. I want a nice big camera. with good zoom and lot of features. I do have my fathers old 35mm. He was a photographer and it’s still a nice camera but a hassle for what I want to do with it. I’m still going to hold onto it though. I am looking at a Sony but it’s over $1000 and I don’t have that right now, but theres a Masonic for about $300 I may aim for instead. I’m hoping to get it by Christmas, but I do have other things I have to pay for first. The life of a college student!

In my daily search though the various forums I am on. I found a post about a family that is dealing with Cancer both parents have it and the mother is coming out of it, but the father is still having problems. They have 3 girls and really need some help.

The person who posted this is a former schoolmate of this family and is selling calenders for 2008. He took all of the pictures himself and put the calender together using an online service. Since it did cost alot to produce it is a little on the high side for a calender, but it’s not that bad since I have scene calenders already that are $20- $30 each. This one cost just $15 and $2 from every sale will be going to the family. He only makes a profit of less then $1 each.

I do have plans on buying on as soon as I can. It’s for a good cause and a great way to get a head start on good deeds in 2008.

Heres the link to his blog.
