Halloween fun

Today is Halloween in the USA. I’m not sure what other country’s celebrate it, but I know it’s a big thing here. I live in a small town where most people celebrate this holiday, but I am finding more and more people who don’t. I’m not sure exactly why some don’t as they can’t even tell me why. Others do it for religious reasons, I understand and respect that.

My problem this year is that yesterday I mentioned something about Halloween and this women who was not in the conversation came up to me told me I believed in satin and I was going to hell. Just because I like Halloween. Has anyone else had this happen. I have never experienced this before and it surprised me.

Enough about that, if you do celebrate Halloween what have or are you going to do today. I have class so I really can’t do much. It’s sad, but I just can’t. I hope to get back to take pictures of my niece and nephew though.

Should I or Shouldn’t I?

I was trying to think of something to get my little sisters boyfriends for Christmas. I was thinking of getting them a Bose home theater system, but they won’t live together for long so that may not work well. Then I thought maybe getting each one a small radio or something. This would fit better into my budget and I wouldn’t have to go into the gifts with my sister. Of course I may end up doing that anyway.

It’s so hard for me to buy for guys as I have never had to besides my brother and my dad and step dad. I have no idea what I should get them. I think it’s harder because there not family, but they have both been around for about a year and a half now, so there close. In fact I’m sure my youngest sister will be the first to get married. The guy she’s with now and her are perfect.

I’m sure I’ll figure out something. I guess I’ll just have to talk to my sisters and see what these boys want, yes I can call them boys, they are younger then me!

The Antichrist?

Why is it that any book that deals with magic or fantasy is automatically the Antichrist? Why do people think they need to ban movies and books that are not hurting anyone but inspiring children’s imagination and growth. First we had the Harry Potter series which was supposedly promoting witchcraft. I have read these books and there great! They don’t promote witchcraft unless you tell your children they do. They promote reading and imagination. Tell you children it’s not real, and it should be okay, but that would involve being a parent and we know most people today are not parents, they just like to pretend to be.

The newest addition to this wonderful outcry of Satanism is the movie called The Golden Compass staring Nicole Kidman. This movie is based on a series written by Philip Pullman. A website I was recently pointed to, claims that he is an atheist that is trying to kill god in his trilogy His Dark Materials, which includes the Golden Compass or as the book is known in England and maybe other countries, Northern lights.

From the research I did I got this. The book is fantasy, think the lion the which and the wardrobe or the Lord Of The Rings, . These books were written for children. They are made to make your children think and to spark there imagination. Again I have always said if your not sure about a movie for your children, GO SEE IT YOURSELF and then decide if it’s okay for them, but once again that involves being a parent and as I said before people like the idea, but they never seem to want to actually do it.

So do I think this movie is the Antichrist and is teaching children to hate god. No! It’s not real people, stop complaining and find something more productive to do, use your time to help the homeless or the starving children of this world. Christan’s who complain and start things like this are only driving non believers away as even I as a Christan find it very annoying!

The trouble with advertising

Recently I signed up for an account at web.com. I had heard they had a good service and I wanted to try it out. Now don’t get me wrong I love my blue host account and plan on staying with them. The reason I signed up with the new account was because I was going to start a website with a friend of mine from the internet and I did not want him to have access to my other sites. He also preferred web.com.

As some of you know I am a member of some GPT programs. I enjoy them as I can try different things and get paid to do it. Always a good thing. I signed up for the web.com account though swat cash my favorite get paid to site. Everything was good and since I was paying for hosting I saw the cash back as a discount. Well a few days after signing up and the offer approving. I logged into my account and the money was gone. Okay they had frauders and pulled there account. It happens. I understand why. It just sucks. So I figure I’ll keep it anyway.

The next day my friend calls and he has a new job and won’t be able to start the site with me. He was going to do all the hard work I was just going to advertise and write about it. So, once again the day kinda sucked. So I decide that I’m going to call and cancel the account. I’ve only had it a week and it’s not going to go anywhere. I make the call. The women is friendly, but I can’t hear her. it takes us 15 minutes to figure this out. Then she says okay we can do this but I have to send you here. So I get transfered. Then I am told that my account will be canceled at the end of the next billing cycle. This makes me mad. Why are they keeping my money? Of course I couldn’t hear this women very well so I finally hung up.

So what is my review of web.com. Don’t use them. They scam and they have a horrible service that you pay way too much for. Blue host offers twenty times as much as web.com and has much better customer service. I’m sure there are other hosting services that are much better. I’ve learned my lesson. I will stick to what I like and thats it.

Help your loved ones

One thing that I have learned from my short life so far is that anything can happen. A Three years ago I lost my dad to cancer and I know my sister and I being so young would never have been able to afford a funeral.  Luckily my father had life insurance and we were able to use that to pay for the funeral. We also got some back that we could use to support ourselves. I used it to pay for housing while I was in school.

I know many people don’t want to think about the end, but you have to. There is more then just you at stake. Right now I don’t have anything planned and when I went into the hospital in may I found out I almost died because I didn’t know I was diabetic. If I had not made it my family would have to pay for my funeral and cover any debt I had. Including my student loans. Thats around $40,000 that does not include the cost for a funeral which is normally ten thousand to twenty thousand dollars.

Unfortunately I am not in a position right now to do anything about it. You have to have money to get insurance and I can’t be sure I can pay even $5 a month right now. Sometimes I miss the days of working at walmart and the $50,000 life insurance policy.

Why I hate Michigan

As many of you know I am an unemployed college student with some debt. I do different things online to help me stay on top of these bills. Well now I have another problem. My car insurance. Michigan law requires that you have insurance coverage on all of your vehicles even if it’s just sitting in your driveway and does not run. My problem is that I had money about a year ago and paid for a years worth of insurance now that bill is due again and I’m thinking I paid too much so I need a better car insurance rate.

I have been looking at insurance quotes online and wow there are alot of places to find this information. It seems that there is always something there trying to add to your insurance, things that I don’t think I need but I’m not sure. I really wish that I could find a site that will tell me what the minimum my state requires is and let me just pay for that. I guess they have to make money somehow. My favorite one so far is the one that insisted I had to sign up for business insurance. Yes I have a home based business in a way, but I don’t have anyone come to my home and I don’t go anywhere for my work. I find it amusing sometimes what they try to sell you.

Maybe I’ll just stick with what I have, that way I don’t have to go through this hassle of trying to find someone else and not liking there service or there options. I still have a month to decide. We will see.
