One thing that I have learned from my short life so far is that anything can happen. A Three years ago I lost my dad to cancer and I know my sister and I being so young would never have been able to afford a funeral.  Luckily my father had life insurance and we were able to use that to pay for the funeral. We also got some back that we could use to support ourselves. I used it to pay for housing while I was in school.

I know many people don’t want to think about the end, but you have to. There is more then just you at stake. Right now I don’t have anything planned and when I went into the hospital in may I found out I almost died because I didn’t know I was diabetic. If I had not made it my family would have to pay for my funeral and cover any debt I had. Including my student loans. Thats around $40,000 that does not include the cost for a funeral which is normally ten thousand to twenty thousand dollars.

Unfortunately I am not in a position right now to do anything about it. You have to have money to get insurance and I can’t be sure I can pay even $5 a month right now. Sometimes I miss the days of working at walmart and the $50,000 life insurance policy.
