Everything and Anything

My thoughts on everything around me

What are you Thankful for?

As I sit here winding down the Holiday I wonder why it really doesn’t feel like a holiday anymore. We were rushed as my little sister had to drive 4 hours to her boyfriends parents and my step dad, a truck driver is still not home. It really didn’t feel like Thanksgiving, but it hasn’t in a few years so I’m not surprised, just a little disappointed.

What I want to share with you now is what I am thankful for.

I am thankful to be alive. I almost died this year and it has helped me change a little, but there is still much more work to do.

I am thankful for my family. Without them I would not be entertained. I mean that in a good way. We are not a close family that shares everything, but we are closer then alot of family’s.

I am thankful for the Internet, without it I would never have met most of the people I know and love. I would not be able to afford my medications and I would probably not be here writing this right now.

The last thing, but not the least is my cat. Yes I know this sounds strange, but when my father passed away almost 3 years ago now. I moved into an apartment soon after and lived alone in a town where I had no friends. I didn’t go out, I didn’t see anyone except at school. She was my one companion and the only person I could talk to. Yes I consider my cat a person.

This month I had a contest on Blogger Love asking my members what they are thankful for. The two who responded tied for votes and now they will win $5 pay pal. I voted and found it very hard to do, I just shut my eyes and pointed!

One winner wrote her what I’m thankful for entry on her blog, Brain Foggles, Her entry was wonderful and very insightful into her personality. She is a wonderful person with a good heart.

The Other winner wrote her what I’m thankful for entry on the forums:

Let’s see….what am I thankful for….
This may sound a bit cheesy and probably a lot like parental bragging but I am really thankful that my daughter is such a good girl. She has never been in trouble in school, she is always polite to everyone and she always helps the smaller kids. When I see how some of the other kids in her class act, I always thank my lucky stars that she’s so well behaved.

If you would like to know more about her please visit her blog The Geek Within.

I hope that one day I can look back and realize that I was just still dealing with things this Thanksgiving and hopefully I will understand exactly why I felt as if this were not a holiday. I hope you all had a wonderful day, even if you do not live in the US and celebrate Thanksgiving.
