Why are people so weird
Sunday, December 23, 2007 14:14I ran into a girl I went to high school with the other day. She has decided that she doesn’t want to live in the middle of no where anymore so she’s moving to the city. She’s spent a few weeks looking for condos for sale in the Detroit area. When I asked why Detroit she said because she wanted to meet different types of people. She then proceeded to tell me that she wanted more black friends. She didn’t have any and she wanted some.
I looked at her weird. She’s not racist, but it’s just the way that sounded, it didn’t sound right. Thats where I had to stop and remember where I lived and where I grew up. Well kinda. When I was a kid we lived in cities. When I was a teen we moved to the middle of nowhere which is where I am now. So please keep that in mind when reading this. Anyway, the first thought in my head was “She is going to say something wrong and get herself into trouble.” The reason is simple, people around here have been taught to be politically correct and treat people of a different color differently. This is the only reason I have a problem with political correctness. It tells you to treat someone differently. Personaly I think that no matter what you look like, unless you can’t walk, you should be treated the same way I treat everyone else. I’m a polite person, I try not to offend people, but if you do something stupid or piss me off I’m still going to let you know.
So I guess my question is, what do you think of political correctness. Is it a good thing, or just annoying?
