I would much rather have the bulbs then the candy, even before I was diabetic! I love flowers.

I think things besides candy may sell better anyway. I actually still have one notepad from a sale I did in high school for personalized notepads. We sold over $600 worth, in a school of less then 300 students 9-12 grades. So I think they went over well.

I don't get it either. In these days of people being more diet aware the continued delivery of unhealthy sweets and lollies as fundraisers is a pain in the bum.

In Australia, the old favourite was a Lamington drive. Now for those of you not familiar with a Lamington it is essentially a small jelly and coconut covered sponge cake. Trust me they tasted nicer than they look.

Unfortunately over recent years large confectionary companies have taken over pushing M&M's, Maltesers, and Starburst jubes down our throats.

Now whilst none of these selection benefit the diabetics in the community I would have to say the Lamington was a far better dietary choice.

I though have seen an even better idea recently. The idea is from an onling gardening supplier in Australia and involves selling bulbs. The bulb is then planted and can produce some sensational flowers for the party that purchases it.

Whilst these kits may require more selling than those of a candy pack, they are significantly more healthy and will promote a fantastic environment for years to come. Not the 10 seconds of pleasure that a sugar rush can give most of us.
