As I said, I didn’t go vote today, I thought about it, but I didn’t. According to what I saw I had to choose a party, If I chose Democrat my vote would not matter. Since Michigan has had all of it’s delegates removed. I don’t want to vote republican either, why well because really I don’t seem to support them as much. At least with the democratic party I tend to support there candidates more.

So what was on my fellow Michiganders minds today? What else the economy. We have the highest unemployment rate in the nation, and now you understand why I complain about money and google so much. I have watched people lose there homes because they lost there automotive factory jobs. Unions have killed this state. They have raised prices on things and made it imposable for automotive companies to compete in the world market place. These companies are not going to move back they are gone for cheaper labor and the ability to compete. I don’t blame them. It’s good business. It does suck for us though.

This was a big theme in the republican race today. One candidate promised to get these jobs back, another said it’s time to move on and find something new. I agree with the last statement. Michigan needs to find another way to boost the economy. There are many ideas in the works the best one I have heard is concentrating on environmental business. Here in the Thumb area we already have wind turbines up and running. They are hoping soon to have enough up to provide electricity to this whole area.

That is the future, not auto plants. Will we still have an automotive industry. Probably, but it will no longer be the big man on campus and I for one am actually happy about that.
