No Counseling but Charged for Terrorism?
Many of you reading this may have seen the story about the 14 year old boy who is being charged with terrorism. If you haven’t you can read about the story Good Morning America did by clicking here.
What I don’t understand is why this child after so long still has not received counseling? This child could still come out of this okay and be a good member of society. Trust me when I tell you all, bullying in school can have some very negative effects on a person later in life. They may not always turn out to be criminals but it does effect their daily lives.
I’m a great example of that. When I was young I moved a lot. I moved from Michigan to Colorado and back to Michigan again. In third grade I started at yet another new school, I had been to 5 by then and had no problem fitting into those, but this one was different. I was one of two families that lived in an low income all black neighborhood, but I went to a mostly rich white school. I talked different because I had a very slight accent from Colorado, I was overweight and in 3rd grade starting to lose my hair. I got picked on, I was told I was worthless, I would die alone, no one would ever love me and I was constantly told I was fat and ugly. Most of this was by one group of girls and went on for 2 years.
Today those taunts still are with me. They effect everything I do, even if I don’t realize it. There are times I still think, they are right I will die alone or yes, I am fat and ugly. The thing is except for a few issues with my mom a few years ago and one friend I have not heard that from anyone since. I get looks from guys because of my weight, but that I can deal with, at least for a while.
Bullying does so much to a child that I can see why he snapped. Should he be punished yes, but not as an adult, he is still too young to know the consequences of his actions, most 18 year olds still can’t get a good grip on that! The first thing that anyone should have done is to get him counseling, but no people are idiots and don’t care about this child and what he needs. They just want to pretend they are over in Iraq fighting terrorist! This is what I have to say to them, this kid is not a terrorist, he didn’t do anything! If he had, then maybe you could say that, but it was caught early enough that the possibility of it happening was cut off. You don’t know if he would have gone though with it and now you can help him so it doesn’t happen again, oh wait sorry you didn’t and now he’s been though more. Great Job Idiots!
What do you think, should he have gotten counseling or should he get tried as an adult and go into an adult penitentiary with a bunch of adult criminals who could influance him to go the wrong way?
