Believe it or not some business still don’t take credit cards. I ran into one yesterday and was reminded of a speech one of my classmates did last week. Her restaurant does not accept credit cards and they are always turning people away. This is the same thing that happened to me yesterday luckily it was a store so I just left and went somewhere else. Needly to say it’s a store I won’t be going into again as I hardly ever have cash.

It’s actually an easy process to accept credit cards. You just have to subscribe to a service. You get a machine that will read them and your good to go. The company does everything for you. They take out the fees, and send the rest on to you once they get paid. It depends on the credit card company though some will not pay you until the customer pays them.

I know how easy it is to take credit cards, I did it when I sold Avon. I used one of the old manual ones though, at least until I was sent forms for them to fill out instead. I usually encouraged them to just shop online with my website, that way they didn’t worry about me stilling there information. I wouldn’t but I don’t trust many people, so I don’t expect many to trust me.

  1. Wow, that’s hard to believe - a restaurant not taking credit cards and turning away business. That business can be hard enough, get a merchant account and make some money.

I saw a pizza place in FL that didn’t take plastic and I was in awe. Ah, but you can still pay if you’re short on cash. They had a sort of ATM machine there, not the normal one though… it was a terminal that debited their account, put the money in the pizza places account and even got the person a few bucks cash if they wanted it, right out of the restaurants register. Yup, it printed a slip that you hand in with your bill which shows you paid and lets you get some cash if you got extra. And doing it that way, the restaurant not only incurs no fees, I bet they even make a few bucks - not to mention not losing any sales! (Of course the customer gets hit with fees, in most cases at least, I’m sure.)

  2. I have never seen a machine like that! It sounds like a great addition to their restaurant though since people can still use their credit cards. I know a few business that could benefit from that type of addition.

  3. Wow, that was sort of hard, but I figured out what the darn things are called. LOL

Google “Cashless ATM” or “Script Machine” and you’ll find these units. Use that first term and you’ll even find one on eBay right now.

  4. Thanks for the info. I’ll have to pass that along to some people I know.
