I’m reading on yahoo as I usually end up doing a few times a day and I come across this story on global warming and how we really could be in some big trouble soon. Now I was enjoying my reading until I got to this part.

Longtime global warming skeptic Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., citing a recent poll, said in a statement, “Hansen, (former Vice President) Gore and the media have been trumpeting man-made climate doom since the 1980s. But Americans are not buying it.”

The first though in my head after reading this was “who are you to tell me what I believe and what I think!” Personally I feel that most Americans are not stupid and can see what is right in front of their damn face. Now if this man stopped getting his income from oil and other environmentally harming companies then maybe he would see differently.

This brings me to my question, the title of my post. Global Warming are you buying it or do you think it’s just a made up dooms day scenario?

  1. Personally, I’m not buying it. Prominent people pushing for, and against, Global Warming (especially through the media) have a reason to push it– they profit off of it. Whether it’s with carbon taxing for those crying about man-made global warming, or the protection of corporations for those that refuse to even consider the idea of global arming, people are going to push for it because it either creates or keeps their livelihood.

I’ve seen evidence to suggest it either way, though I happen to see the evidence suggesting a solar system warning (not just global warming) as a bunk toward man-made warming from carbon emissions.

  2. I can see where you don’t buy it because people profit off of it. They do, but that doesn’t mean it’s not real. I think most of the things that normal people are asked to change in their lives are not that difficult and may actually be good for them. Many of the energy efficient things that help with the environment also save us money in the long run. Maybe more research needs to be done to find out for sure what is causing this.

  3. Did you know the meteorologist who founded The Weather Channel doesn’t believe in global warming? Al Gore is not a scientist. I don’t believe in global warming. The science behind it is junk. You’ve got to read Michael Crichton’s novel Fear, and remember Crichton is a medical doctor and scientist.

What bothers me is that we do have real environmental issues, like loss of habitat for animals. Recycling is not wide spread. Where I live, in the rural midwest, hardly anyone recycles. Scare tactics about climate change simply aren’t working and take credibility away from conservation efforts.

  4. I agree that recycling efforts need to be increased and hopefully it will be. I have read information that proves there is global warming, but I find it interesting that you mentioned Al Gore and went off on him when I never said a word about him. I have seen the movie and he had some interesting things to say. I have also done research after that and have read the book my Michael Crichton. I personally don’t believe that global warming is not real. As human beings if there is something we can do to stop or at least slow it down, shouldn’t we? Who does it really hurt?
