Social Networking Tips From A Newbie
Thursday, March 19, 2009 14:36You always hear about the great things that come a long with social networking. Well I’m not totally new at it, but I’m not an expert either. Here are some of the things I have learned over the last few months about social networking. Why am I sharing this with you? Well I have decided that I need to make some changes to my life and this blog. One of them being the lack of traffic this blog now receives. I will be posting more things like this as I make my way though the world of social networking.
1 Just because you post it and add it to Digg, Twitter and Yahoo buzz does not mean that people will read it. Go onto forums and as people to review your article or at least check it out. Forums are still a great way to network.
2. Talk to people. When I first started social networking I talked to a lot of people, then school got in my way and I stopped. Guess what I lost my traffic. So please speak up!
3. Bother everyone you can for a link, I did not do this as I am not that type of person, but I have noticed that many people who bothered me for a link now have great traffic and earn good money.
4. Get your family to read your post. Now I can’t do this as my family just won’t. I have tried for 2 years and no luck. I do have one or two friends that do, but that’s it. Getting your friends and family to check out, link to and help promote your post can really go far.
5. Ask questions. I am not a “question asker” as I don’t like to look stupid, but I’m learning I need to ask, even though I have been blogging for almost 4 years I still have a lot to learn.
6. Learn that failing is not always the worst thing in the world. It’s okay to fail because then you learn something. I fail a lot so I probably know a ton more then some people!
Those are my tips for anyone in social networking. I understand that many of you reading this are going duh, but who knows maybe one person will benefit from this post. If you want link to it and share the fun with your friends.
