Everything and Anything

My thoughts on everything around me

Online Income and The Economy

I have noticed a huge increase in people looking for work online. Now I’m not talking about getting online and finding people, but people I know who at one time looked at me like I was nuts when I told them I started blogging to make money, now want to know how they can make money online too. I find this kind of funny, but I am as always more then willing to help. The problem is that these same people expect to be paid within a week and have a ton of money when they do.

I hate to burst their bubble, but making money online is not that easy and not that lucrative for most people. Take blogging for instance. Yes blogging is easy to start doing as there are many free sites, but to make money blogging you have to put in time and dedication. Something most of the people I know just can not do, though I’m willing to help them try, they give up after the first day or so. A few have tried for a week or two and just found out it wasn’t for them. Thats fine, but to give up after one day is just silly.

When making money from your blog you have to have a realistic idea of what you are doing, paid reviews must be honest or your readers will not listen to you, you have to realize that most paid posting programs want a blog that has been around a while, usually at least 2-3 months and you will have to wait to get paid. Take a new company for instance, Payingpost.com, they require that you be approved and more then likely they want a blog that actually is active, not one just starting out. Blogging is a lot of work in itself, paid blogging is a real job and takes a lot of energy and time. The people I know don’t seem to get that, they figure I sit at home all day and do nothing. They don’t realize that writing a post is only a small part of what I have to do to actually earn an income.

What do you think, could you put 40 hours a week into blogging for pay?
