The Pros and Cons of Custom Card Designs

 - by Guest Blogger

It seems that today, many people are opting to customize greeting cards for all occasions, as opposed to purchasing pre-made, boxed designs. If you really want to give something unique, then you, too, may want to consider jumping on this trend. Before you spend your time and money, though, you should think about any associated advantages and disadvantages. Here are the pros and cons of custom card designs:

Pros:

Freedom of design. Sometimes it seems that no ordinary card will do. You might have a specific idea for a card design, or even a special quote that means a lot to you and that you’d like to share. Whatever your unique ideas are, the best way to convey them is to design custom cards.

Personalization. Choosing custom greeting cards means being able to personalize your cards for both yourself and the card recipients. There is something very special about a card that is imprinted with your name and picture, as well as the names of those you wish to greet.

Options. When it comes to custom cards, you have a wide variety of custom card companies to choose from, and each of them offers their customers unique advantages, from free templates to embossing. It doesn’t matter if you need Christmas cards, thank you notes, or simply cards to say “I’m thinking of you.” You can be sure to find a number of businesses that are eager to fill your order.

Cons:

Cost. Of course, any time you choose to go the custom route, you must pay for it. While it is possible to trim the cost of custom greeting cards by shopping around, there is no way of getting around the fact that it is simply cheaper to go with the boxed counterpart.

Effort. In order to design custom cards, you must put some thought and effort into designing those cards. For example, what exactly do you want your cards to say? What should they look like? Do you want to leave the inside blank or include a personalized message? If you aren’t up for making these kinds of decisions, then choosing custom cards may just give you a headache.

As you can see, there is a lot to think about when deciding whether or not you want to go the route of designing custom cards. Consider these pros and cons before making that choice, and keep in mind that, when it comes to giving, it is the thought that counts. How do you want to relay that thought?
