Did You Know That Sears Has Lay Away?

Posted by Holly on Nov 16, 2008 under Christmas shopping

I didn’t know that. I think why is that I just don’t go to sears that much, but I think now that I know they have lay away I will be there this year looking for Christmas gifts for everyone, well at least a few of them anyway. I have seen some great stuff at sears and since you only have to have 15 dollars or 20% down it’s really easy to get things paid off. One thing I love about layaway is that you can pay off over time, sometimes I do it just because I want the item and can’t pay for it right then, but am worried about it being gone. Sometimes I use it to hide gifts from people. This year I do kind of need to hide a few things, so I will probably be using this service. Yes I know it doesn’t last until Christmas, but it’s closer then bringing it home this week or next week.

Sears Layaway does have some restrictions, you can’t put personal computers and home appliances in there is also some other things you cant put in I suggest checking their website before you buy.

I have found a few things I want to buy people online, I just hope they are in the store. One I would love to get my mom is the Kalorik 10 Cup Coffee Maker with Grinder, she needs a new coffee maker and this would just be really cool for her. I also found a great gift for my sister a Hamilton Beach Wave Powerâ„¢ Plus 12-Speed Blender. She doesn’t have a blender and this could really be helpful. I also found something I would like, but the rest of my family could use to. I want a Deni Freshlock Vacuum Sealer so that I can cook up healthy food and have it on hand and ready to go. It would just be nice to have that option. I’ll have to get to sears soon to see if I can actually get any of these items.

Looking For Payless Shoes Coupon

Posted by Holly on Nov 7, 2008 under Christmas shopping, shopping

I decided the other day that I am going to have to break down and get some new shoes. I hate shoe shopping because I can never find anything I actually like. I do tend to do better at Payless so I have been looking for a good Payless Shoes coupon to use to buy my shoes. Of course that also means I have to find ones I like first. I think I found a pair that I really like, but I’m not sure yet, I still have some time, I think, before the big snow hits us here in Michigan. At the same time you just never know when we are going to get that snow storm.

Now, I am the type to go into a store and try on things, go back home, find online coupon codes and then buy an item online using those code. Yes I will do anything to save money, the best part is when you can use a discount code and the site offers free shipping. I do that a lot too and it’s always great to stock up on things you know your going to need, recently I bought 3 moisturizers because I go though a lot, they only cost me in the end $2 each. In these times every thing you can do to save a few dollars is always helpful. In fact I probably will do much of my Christmas shopping online.

Are You Cutting Back?

Posted by Holly on Nov 7, 2008 under Christmas shopping, us economy

I was reading a few minutes ago on how people are cutting back on holiday shopping. I am not really cutting back, but that is because I’ve never had the money to spend in the first place. I do know my mother is cutting back, that will make my little brother mad, but he’ll have to deal. He is at that age where he wants all the cool stuff and doesn’t get that we can’t afford it.

I have a feeling we will see more people looking for good bargains and less people spending money on large items. I also have talked to many people who are not exchanging gifts at all. Instead they are all pitching in on food for the holiday meal. One family is even going to have each member donate money to a local charity instead of giving gifts. I love that idea.

Getting Holiday Cards

Posted by Holly on Nov 2, 2008 under Christmas shopping

Yesterday as we were shopping for a few things for the Halloween party we also started looking at Christmas stuff. I love Christmas and all the fun things you can get, but one thing about Christmas I like, but don’t always do is sending out Christmas Cards. We looked at a few and I found some I like, but I’m still not sure if I want to buy them from the store or order them online though vista print.

I love using their service and have gotten business cards from them before, but I have not gotten the Christmas cards yet. I keep thinking about it as they have some really great ones that I like and would normally cost me a ton of money at the store. I really like the photo cards, but I don’t have a family of my own so there is no point in me buying them. Now if I got the foil ones I think people would like them. I like shiny things and of course holiday cards and shiny almost go right together. Everything that has to do with Christmas sparkles right? I probably will just go with the cheep fold cards as I don’t have a lot of money to spend this year. They have a really nice selection of cards and I found one I really like, it says seasons greetings with holiday bulbs on the front of the card. It’s simple and works for people who are not really into the Christmas thing, but may celebrate something during this time of year.

Holiday Shopping

Posted by Holly on Oct 16, 2008 under Christmas shopping

I have been thinking more and more about shopping for Christmas. I am trying to decide if I should go to Kmart and put some things on layaway or if I should wait and just buy what I can afford in December when I’m not trying to come up with gas and food money for school. I’m sure I’m not the only one worrying about this, but in my house we always struggle every year to get gifts, I remember a few years ago when I was so excited because I had $10 to spend on each person instead of $5. I realized how sad this was after talking with some people yesterday who were complaining because they only have $50 for each person, or their parents have told them that can’t buy them that $200 coat or phone that they want.

Part of me is happy I have had to deal with going without, I think it does make me a better person, but it still sucks when you can’t afford basic things, and then you can’t afford to buy extra stuff on holidays. I mostly hate that I can’t get something good for my niece and brother, my brother is 15 and is old enough to know he can’t get things he wants, but he didn’t get much as a kid since my sisters wanted so much. My niece is still young and should get something good. Maybe I’ll win the lottery that would be nice!

An interesting experience.

Posted by Holly on Dec 29, 2007 under Christmas shopping, stuff

I think this is interesting. I’m a plus size gal and I find it very hard to get necklaces that fit me. Usually they are too small and look more like a choker then a necklace. I have these beautiful gold chains that I can’t wear because they don’t fit. The strange part about this. I got the necklaces at a plus size store.

I don’t get where jewelry manufactures think that everyones neck is the same size. Mine has always been bigger. I’m told when I lose weight it will shrink but I don’t think it’s going to get a lot smaller. Yes I did buy extenders for my necklaces, but being I bought them in a plus size only store, I shouldn’t have to buy extenders.

What do you think?

The best time to shop, after Christmas!

Posted by Holly on Dec 24, 2007 under Christmas shopping, personal, stuff

I do alot of shopping after Christmas because of all the sales. I love getting a bargain on things that I want. Yes I shop for myself, I spent most of December shopping for other people it is my turn. My birthday is also in January and unless I buy something for me I usually don’t get anything. People tend to forget because it’s so close to the holidays.

This year I think I will be getting my birthday gift online. Yes I will still be going to the stores, you can’t pass up the get it now deals they have, but I want something from a store that is not in my area. That and I can get eLuxury coupons for online shopping. I can also use a one of the cash back shopping sites I use or I can find some great deals at other stores using GoGoShopper.com.

I have selection when I shop online, I don’t when I go to the store. This year is even worse because my car is still getting fixed. Thats what happens when you have no money. Yes I have the money now! Anyway my only selection will be walmart and rite aid. Since those are the only stores in the town I live in that will have good sales. Oh and fashion bug, gotta love them.

So you can see why I love online shopping so much, I have access to online coupons and stores that I love, but can’t get to. Online shopping was the best idea anyone could come up with. especially for small town people who love big city style, like me!
