I finally got to go see Batman:The Dark Knight last night, we ended up running late and had to go to the next showing, but it was worth the wait. It was a great movie that really did keep you wondering what was going to happen next. I’m not going to spoil anything if you haven’t seen it yet so don’t worry you can keep reading.

The big story of this movie is of course Heath Ledgers role as the Joker. Many people didn’t think it would live up to all of the buzz surrounding it. Well I’m happy to say it did and if he doesn’t get nominated for an Heath Ledger, Jokeraward or 5 this upcoming season, I will not be watching award shows ever again. This roll showed that this man had talent well beyond what anyone had seen him do before. For most of the movie your hair on your arms was standing up because of how completely psycho and unpredictable this character was. Not only that, but he also managed to play the part with enough similarities to Jack Nicholson’s Joker that the character was believable as a younger version of the Joker.  It’s very sad that he is no longer around to reprise this role in any upcoming films they will have a very hard time finding anyone who could fill it if they decide to bring him back.

Over all still a great movie full of suspense and of course the always sexy Christan Bale. All of the actors and actresses did a wonderful job and made this a movie you could go see again and again and never get bored.

Last night I was reading an article that someone had written about children at the new Batman movie. Now they were pretty upset that at a midnight showing there were 5-10 year old’s. I also find that a little crazy for this particular movie. Yes it’s a treat for some, but at the same time does the kid want to see the movie or did the parents make them come because they wanted to?

this person had no problems with the children that were a little older as they knew how to behave, but the young ones don’t and at a midnight showing in a cramped theater they are tired and don’t car about the movie, personally I think anyone under the age of 10 should not have been there, there is a pg13 rating on it for a reason. No that does not me as long as the parent buys the ticket a 3 year old can get it. It means that your child should have the mental capacity of at least a 13 year old to see the movie.

I agree that parents now a days need a reality check when it comes to what movie ratings mean. G- everything is okay anyone can watch it.

  • PG- probably not good for little kids but okay for the 5 and up crowd.
  • PG13- explained earlier, but I will say it again, your child should have the mental capacity of at least a 13 year old to see the movie. (usually they don’t until they are at least 12)
  • R-Restricted, in other words unless your child is 16 they should NOT see this movie.
  • XXX- If your letting your kid watch this you are a bad parent.

Now that you know the rateing system, I have a story for you. I do movie audits where I count how many people watch a movie for a weekend. I audited the Sex and the City movie for 2 weeks. I saw a total of 9 kids 10 and under go into the movie and at least 17-25 that had to be 10-15. If you didn’t see Sex and the City and live under a rock, let me tell you a secret, there is a ton of nudity and sex in this movie. Something children of that age should not be seeing! I’m sure the one man who came to see it with his 9 year old sons will be wondering in about 3-5 years why his sons got a girl pregnant.

Anyway back to the Batman movie. This poster was told off in a few comments that some people can not afford a babysitter and a movie, well if that’s the case don’t see the movie because apparently you don’t have the money to spend. Wait a week or two and save so you can afford both, I know in this country saving is an unheard of concept, but come on! You really need to watch what your kids are watching. Oh and of course there is also the issue of the other 300 or more people that stayed up to watch the midnight showing paid 8-12 or more dollars to see it only to have a 5 year old kick them in the back every three minutes or have a child go running down the aisle screaming because the parent doesn’t want to watch them. In other words, think of the other people. I have personally told theaters that people are not watching their children and they have been kicked out because of it. Guess what parents, they can do that and I think more theaters should. That said if you can not get a babysitter and you must see the movie in the theater go during the day, when people expect kids to be there or at least wait a few days to go see it later at night.

This is my opinion, what are your thoughts?

There are a few good movies coming out this summer, but it seems that the really good movies are all a few years old. No I’m not talking about movies with weird looking equestrian clothing. I’m talking about good movies that keep you in suspense, make you laugh and make you feel good when you leave.

Tonight I sat down to watch one of my favorite movies, Armageddon. I have not seen it in a long time and I had forgotten how good that movie was. It was everything a movie should be with some fun and humor thrown into a very serious situation. Even though I knew the end I still was on the edge of my seat watching. I hate the end because I love Bruce Willis but I’ll be okay.

Anyway there have been a few other movies since then that have had the same effect, but it seems that around the time this one came out, there were a bunch of them that were like this. Maybe I just don’t get to see them, I don’t know. Am I the only one who notices this?

Yesterday I did an audit at a local theater for Sex and The City. I got lucky I think as most people were there Thursday night and Friday. There were not many people there yesterday and I don’t think there will be many there today.

As for the movie, It was okay. I’m not going to give anything away except for the fact that they probably could have had a better storyline and made it two movies instead of one. For someone who didn’t really watch the series. I didn’t have HBO as a teen. I really didn’t love the movie, I didn’t hate it either but for me it was just a very long drawn out half plot. There was a story, it just could have been done better. The writing just seemed thrown together

That said the actresses were great. I enjoyed the first scenes very much. They were funny and interesting. After that it just kinda went along for a while. Of course there were many sex type scenes so don’t take your kids to see this one.

I personally did not enjoy the movie, but that is only my opinion. I think fans of the show did enjoy the movie and it gave them closer for the series. At least thats how everyone coming out of the theater put it.

My Rating of this movie. 8/10

We went to see Indiana Jones IV today and I have to say I loved it! The movie was amazing though there were a few things I would have changed. They still managed to close up everything, it seems the movies are at their end.

As for the post I wrote a few days ago about a war starting from this movie. I still don’t see their point. Really what I got out of the movie is that the leading bad guy women is a little insane, but I don’t think that represents all communist at that time or ever. They believe what they believe and I believe what I believe end of it.

I loved the way they ended the movie, nope not going to spoil it for you, go see it if you want to know. I also like how they didn’t try to make the Indiana Jones character younger then what the actor is. He grew up and it still works.

I give this movie 5/5 and plan on adding it to my collection, I own all 3 of the other movies already.

Back in October I wrote a short post about a new children’s movie, the Golden Compass. Now the movie has finally arrived and the controversy has grown. Yahoo has had to take comments off of their piece on the movie as people have been very rude when stating their opinion.

I have not seen the movie yet, but I plan on taking my niece to it. My younger sister saw it and has said there is nothing wrong with it. They do not kill God, they do not promote atheism. As I said in my last post on this subject, it’s another Harry Potter issue, Ignore it.

I understand parents are worried about the message their children are getting. Well you have 3 choices, don’t let them see it and risk the child going with someone else to see it. Go watch it yourself and see what is the truth about it, or wait for it to come out on DVD. Of course the last option also has the risk that you child will go and see it with a friend. Pretty much I am telling you to be a parent and watch what your kids watch.

I know people are doing what they think is right when warning people about the movie, but I guess have to say this again. You are the type of people that make the non-believers run from religion. Accept that there will always be people who believe differently then you do, but most of all be respectful of others. I did get a chance to see a few comments made on yahoo. I was applaud at how some people responded.

I have to try to remain calm. I am a huge Johnny Depp fan and he has a new movie coming out, unfortunately it’s not another pirate movie, even though I will be running to get that on DVD very soon. I love his acting in that film, he’s so crazy and hot and I don’t know why. Of course I’ve liked him since he did Edward Scissor Hands. So it could just still be my girl crush on him. But you have to admit on of the best lines ever said in a movie was “Why is the rum gone?” It’s classic and can be used in so many situations.

I think the best thing about Johnny Depp is that he can do both dark acting and the lighter more normal acting. He was a wonderful actor in Finding Neverland which showed just how diverse he really is. I think one of my favorite Johnny Depp movies, besides the pirates movies was the movie The Libertine. Where he played the role of a womanizing poet. The part consisted of a man who went though so many changes in life that he was not the same person at the end of the film then he was at the beginning.

Sweeney Todd is the new Johnny Depp movie being released in theaters this Christmas. If you have never hear of Sweeney Todd before it is a musical thriller, so yes there will be singing, but there will also be blood and gore. So most people will be happy.  You can find some great trailers and information if you visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site or you can visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace, yes the movie is on myspace, but isn’t every movie on there now?

I will be going to see this, as if you haven’t figured it out I love Johnny Depp, but I also like some of the other actors and actresses in the movie like Helena Bonham Carter, and Timothy Spall. Of course being it’s directed by Tim Burton it is going to be a very interesting movie.
