Another Johnny Depp Movie.

Posted by Holly on Nov 29, 2007 under Movies

I have to try to remain calm. I am a huge Johnny Depp fan and he has a new movie coming out, unfortunately it’s not another pirate movie, even though I will be running to get that on DVD very soon. I love his acting in that film, he’s so crazy and hot and I don’t know why. Of course I’ve liked him since he did Edward Scissor Hands. So it could just still be my girl crush on him. But you have to admit on of the best lines ever said in a movie was “Why is the rum gone?” It’s classic and can be used in so many situations.

I think the best thing about Johnny Depp is that he can do both dark acting and the lighter more normal acting. He was a wonderful actor in Finding Neverland which showed just how diverse he really is. I think one of my favorite Johnny Depp movies, besides the pirates movies was the movie The Libertine. Where he played the role of a womanizing poet. The part consisted of a man who went though so many changes in life that he was not the same person at the end of the film then he was at the beginning.

Sweeney Todd is the new Johnny Depp movie being released in theaters this Christmas. If you have never hear of Sweeney Todd before it is a musical thriller, so yes there will be singing, but there will also be blood and gore. So most people will be happy.  You can find some great trailers and information if you visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site or you can visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace, yes the movie is on myspace, but isn’t every movie on there now?

I will be going to see this, as if you haven’t figured it out I love Johnny Depp, but I also like some of the other actors and actresses in the movie like Helena Bonham Carter, and Timothy Spall. Of course being it’s directed by Tim Burton it is going to be a very interesting movie.

My thoughts on Beowulf

Posted by Holly on Nov 25, 2007 under Movies

After hearing my little brother whine for the last week about seeing the movie Beowulf my mother finally broke down and took him to see it. I tagged along since I had read the poem in high school and was curious to see what they did with it.

We saw it in 3D which was interesting. Of course the parts that were the best was when something sharp was pointed at the screen but thats to be expected. I now see that they have also gotten better with some other aspects of 3D viewing.

Now I’ll get to the story. I thought they did a good job of making the story interesting and long enough for a movie. That said, if you have read the poem and don’t like it when things change a little in the movie, then don’t go see this. They took the movie beyond the poem and made a decent storyline out of it. There is some sexual parts to this movie so I really wouldn’t recommend it for anyone under 13 unless you let them watch that type of thing, which in my opinion is wrong, but thats another post and again my opinion.

I found the movie very enjoyable. It was fun to watch and really had some interesting aspects to it. I personal like how they made it more realistic. Many reviews I have read were mad because they didn’t depict Beowulf as a selfless hero. Well guess what if this had actually happened, which it probably did in some aspect. He did do it for greed, trust me, the fairy tale hero has not, does not and will never exist.

My rating of this movie~ A, It’s a good movie, take your teens to see it.

The things kids ask for.

Posted by Holly on Nov 18, 2007 under Christmas shopping, Movies, personal

My niece who I love, has now decided what she wants for Christmas, she doesn’t want dolls or video games. She doesn’t want a horse like she did last year, a good thing. She wants High School Musical tickets. Hopefully this will change because after the trouble we had getting the Hannah Montana tickets she will not be getting tickets to high school musical.

I have no idea where she came up with the idea, I didn’t even know there were tickets. I thought it was just a movie on Disney. I guess I need to do less homework and babysit more so I can stay in touch with kids. Okay maybe not but I really felt kinda dumb. It’s hard when a child looks at you like your an idiot because they know something you don’t.

Oh well…..

A night at the movies

Posted by Holly on Nov 6, 2007 under Movies, personal

Do you go to movies anymore? I don’t go much. It cost too much money and in my case it’s a good half hour drive from the country where I live, so I movie cost me at least $50. That is just for me with no snacks! I think that is just too much to spend.

My biggest reason for not going to the movies is because I just don’t think the quality of the movies are the same as they use to be. There are a few of course, but not as many as there use to be. I love something that has a story to it, it can be funny, but not the type that makes you sick. Of course these are the movies that sell. So they will keep making them.

Maybe I am just outgrowing the general movie audience. I’m just tired of seeing the same movie over and over again. Okay, it’s not the same movie, but the plot is always the same. This is one reason I don’t watch scary movies anymore, there all the same thing. Girl screams and hides upstairs so eventually the killer gets her.

Am I the only one with this issue?
