Lazy Day And A Busy Week

Yesterday I just didn’t want to do anything. This week has been crazy normally I don’t go anywhere or do anything but this week I have been all over the place. Saturday I had my cousins wedding where we ended up driving for 8 hours to get there and back. At least we didn’t have to go early to help find bridesmaid gifts for her. She apparently was having trouble and couldn’t find anything. Her mom ended up finding something.

Sunday I went to see the New Batman movie, that ended up being later then I wanted it to be. It was so worth it though. I loved the movie and want to see it again. Then Tuesday night I ended up going to see a friend of mine that lives 2 hours away so a 4 hour drive there and that was a late night. I’m just not use to it anymore. It was nice to be busy like that for once though. It made me feel more my age instead of being a 25 year old who feels like they are 80, because they hardly ever leave the house. Okay most 80 year olds get out more then I do!

Food And My Love Affair

Everyone keeps telling me that since I’m now diabetic I can’t eat anything, the truth is I eat more now then I use to and I’m losing weight! I eat better food, but for me it wasn’t a huge change.

I have found though that since I do have to look at what I’m eating that food doesn’t have the same effect on me. I still love it and I have splurge days. I find though that instead of over eating because I’m depressed or bored, I’m finding other things to do. Like write or clean. I’m even starting to get back into some things I loved like photography and crafts.

I still love food, but I just don’t need it as much, the other good thing about this diet is that I always feel full, I think it’s because I’m getting more fiber, which makes you feel full.

A Gift For My Little Brother

I got a great gift for my little brother in the mail the other day, but it was something that was free so I think I may get him something else. What I have right now is a speaker set that he can hook up to his mp3 player and listen to music. I got it from a contest thing, I think and I don’t need them so I’ll give them to him.

I debating between two things right now. One is Callaway irons as he likes golf, but those are expensive and I don’t know if I’ll have the extra by summer to do it. The other one I’m thinking of and leaning more toward is buying him his own domain and storefront to sell chain mail that he is making. He’s actually pretty good at it. He’s 14 right now and not able to get a job. He won’t be able to until he’s a senior in high school because of his age. So he really wants to make money now and is willing to do the work. I just don’t like the idea of paying fees to use another site. I’ll have to see what I can do. I may just buy the domain and put it on my hosting for now.

Economic Hard Times

My mother rents a home. She loves doing it and I love that she has been able to make it succeed. It was out of necessity as she had a new home built just before all of this mortgage mess and the economy going crazy. Actually it was about 2 years before that, but Michigan’s economy has been bad since then, it didn’t start with the housing market like the rest of the country did.

Anyway she just called to see about refinancing the house to put on a new roof, because it needs it. They won’t do it because that house is not worth it. It sucks, because she may have to unload it at a very cheep price now. Hopefully she can do something about it and not worry anymore. There are so many other problems we are having right now and this is something that she shouldn’t have to worry about.

An Interesting Wedding

I went to my cousins wedding yesterday and it was fun. She was nervous but she did seem very happy so I think this will be a good thing for her. She is young, but has been with the guy for about 2 years. They seem very happy and I hope it will work well for her.

I was sad to see that no one from my father’s and her fathers side showed up but me. It seems the only time we get togeather anymore is for a funeral and when it’s a happy event no one can find time. Even my sister had to work, even though I think she just didn’t want to go as she never asked for it off. There are other issues involved with that though so I’m not mad or anything. There were a lot of people there I didn’t know. One girl had pretty cool body jewelry on though, she a nose ring that lit up purple, one of my cousions colors. That was interesting.

Anyway I found myself thinking of my life and my sisters and I talked a lot about weddings. My one little sister and I have similar taste and she pretty much wants the exact same wedding as I would have, but I’m sure she will get married first and I may just end up at a courthouse at this point as I don’t think anyone would come to my wedding. Another long story, lets say that my open house graduation had a whole 30 people and only 3 were related to me, that didn’t live in the house.

I was kinda depressed, but very happy for my cousin a very weird feeling. I almost cried when I thought about how young I still thought her to be. She lived with my family for a while and I still think of her as that little kid. Well next comes the baby, oh did I mention she’s due in January!

Children At The Movies

Last night I was reading an article that someone had written about children at the new Batman movie. Now they were pretty upset that at a midnight showing there were 5-10 year old’s. I also find that a little crazy for this particular movie. Yes it’s a treat for some, but at the same time does the kid want to see the movie or did the parents make them come because they wanted to?

this person had no problems with the children that were a little older as they knew how to behave, but the young ones don’t and at a midnight showing in a cramped theater they are tired and don’t car about the movie, personally I think anyone under the age of 10 should not have been there, there is a pg13 rating on it for a reason. No that does not me as long as the parent buys the ticket a 3 year old can get it. It means that your child should have the mental capacity of at least a 13 year old to see the movie.

I agree that parents now a days need a reality check when it comes to what movie ratings mean. G- everything is okay anyone can watch it.

  • PG- probably not good for little kids but okay for the 5 and up crowd.
  • PG13- explained earlier, but I will say it again, your child should have the mental capacity of at least a 13 year old to see the movie. (usually they don’t until they are at least 12)
  • R-Restricted, in other words unless your child is 16 they should NOT see this movie.
  • XXX- If your letting your kid watch this you are a bad parent.

Now that you know the rateing system, I have a story for you. I do movie audits where I count how many people watch a movie for a weekend. I audited the Sex and the City movie for 2 weeks. I saw a total of 9 kids 10 and under go into the movie and at least 17-25 that had to be 10-15. If you didn’t see Sex and the City and live under a rock, let me tell you a secret, there is a ton of nudity and sex in this movie. Something children of that age should not be seeing! I’m sure the one man who came to see it with his 9 year old sons will be wondering in about 3-5 years why his sons got a girl pregnant.

Anyway back to the Batman movie. This poster was told off in a few comments that some people can not afford a babysitter and a movie, well if that’s the case don’t see the movie because apparently you don’t have the money to spend. Wait a week or two and save so you can afford both, I know in this country saving is an unheard of concept, but come on! You really need to watch what your kids are watching. Oh and of course there is also the issue of the other 300 or more people that stayed up to watch the midnight showing paid 8-12 or more dollars to see it only to have a 5 year old kick them in the back every three minutes or have a child go running down the aisle screaming because the parent doesn’t want to watch them. In other words, think of the other people. I have personally told theaters that people are not watching their children and they have been kicked out because of it. Guess what parents, they can do that and I think more theaters should. That said if you can not get a babysitter and you must see the movie in the theater go during the day, when people expect kids to be there or at least wait a few days to go see it later at night.

This is my opinion, what are your thoughts?

Burned Out

I think I am burned out, I just don’t want to do anything anymore! I don’t even want to blog. I had like 5 different things I could have complained about today and I didn’t. I know I’m kinda depressed as it looks like I’ll be going to school for a while. Also with my cousin getting married I’m thinking about how much older I’m getting. I was okay with the idea of being alone for the rest of my life, then I friend called and kept talking about her kids and how excited she is to be pregnant.

So that might be part of it, but I know I’m just too stressed out about everything else. My chest pains are back again and I’m so tired. I’ve been trying some new ways to make money and one actually worked well, but I don’t have the money right now to keep advertising it. Next month I will, but I don’t want to wait that long. I’m tired of waiting for things to happen, but I can’t seem to be able to make anything happen without money.
