Everything and Anything

The other day I was watching the news and they had a thing about blacks in America and how this election could bring about more problems that do good. It seems that many blacks figure that nothing is going to change. I remember hearing one man I went to school with talk about how the only way that a black is going to make it in the world is to act white. Now personaly I take offence to this as not every white acts the same, many try to act “black” in some peoples eyes.

Here is what I think. We are all human, there is no difference we act how we act. Obama is acting like a politicion. He speeks well and dresses well. How is that not acting like a person. Apparently some blacks think it’s a problem for a black person to speek and dress well? Give me a break! Now before you go off on me wondering why I’m rasist, I’m not. I’m just stateing an obvouse thing here. It seems that whenever a black person makes it by haveing these attributes other blacks feel they have to put them down. This also happends with white people. Mostly when a “white trash” person makes it big.

One person I know said something that would work for any race, “If black people would stop complaining I wouldn’t hate them so much, they are annoying!” Now replace black with any other race and it still fits. We all have our issues and concerns. I think instead of making it a black vs white issue maybe we should just make it a whole society issue. Once we can stop reverencing people as a race and as fellow American citizens maybe something good will actually be accomplished.

There is a huge reason I complain about not finding a job. I live in Michigan. Where the unemployment rate is now over 8% well above the national average of about 5%. If you don’t believe me read about the problems. Yahoo has a great article about the economic problems here. If you don’t feel something you are heartless.

Many of these people will never see the jobs they once had come back, auto companies are gone forever no matter what some people here say. It just cost too much to pay people here. Unions have killed the auto industry.

The story talks about people my age trying to find work. One homeless who is worried he won’t get a job because he doesn’t have a phone number, just email. I’m assuming he checks it at a local library or at school. Yes he is homeless and a student. One man won’t even put his degree on his resume because he’s afraid of being told what I have been, your overqualified.

I have heard people in other states claim that they have it the hardest with gas prices and the housing market, but they are working and the jobs in their areas are either stable or growing some. How do they have it hard when we have nothing, are losing our jobs and no hope of anything for a while. Our Governor is working hard to get industry here in Michigan, but it’s not easy, even then they will not employ as many people as the auto industry and it will take years to catch on.

So next time your looking at high gas prices and heading to your job, think about the people who are having to pay these high gas prices just to find a job, many who unfortunately won’t be finding anything for a long time. They are the ones hurting the most.

I’m reading on yahoo as I usually end up doing a few times a day and I come across this story on global warming and how we really could be in some big trouble soon. Now I was enjoying my reading until I got to this part.

Longtime global warming skeptic Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., citing a recent poll, said in a statement, “Hansen, (former Vice President) Gore and the media have been trumpeting man-made climate doom since the 1980s. But Americans are not buying it.”

The first though in my head after reading this was “who are you to tell me what I believe and what I think!” Personally I feel that most Americans are not stupid and can see what is right in front of their damn face. Now if this man stopped getting his income from oil and other environmentally harming companies then maybe he would see differently.

This brings me to my question, the title of my post. Global Warming are you buying it or do you think it’s just a made up dooms day scenario?

I for one am happy that Obama is now the nominee. I think Clinton did a great job running, but I don’t feel she would make the best choice for president. I don’t mind her as a VP though as I think if both her and Obama could work together they would be a great team. They have many of the same goals and ideas.

My little brother said it best the other day. He said “if choosing a candidate takes this long I don’t think I want to deal with it when I can vote.” This is what worries me as I have noticed my little brother seems to think like most people his age. They are tired of hearing about it, mostly because they can’t vote. I hope it doesn’t turn them off to voting once they can. I do agree that the race for the democratic party went on too long and I’m happy to see it done and over with.

I was reading last night how women are writing into the democratic committee saying that both Michigan and Florida should be seated and Clinton should get all of the votes. I disagree with this as in Michigan we only had one democratic choice and many people including myself did not vote because of that fact alone. We felt we had no actual choice.

What I am wondering with all of this is do the women who are so supportive of Hillary know what she actually wants to do as president or have they just decided she’s female and I love her! Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with your choice I’m just wondering. This thought came into my head last night when I read this article because a women stated that she would rather support McCain then Obama. The thing is when you look at both Democratic candidates they really do have most of the same goals. Trust me I have done a lot of research into this, both before January, when I still wasn’t sure who to vote for, and when they talked about having a re vote. I judge based on what they want to do and how the candidate presents themselves. I just feel that Hillary has kind of cracked under pressure and because of that resulted to tactics that just did not make me feel she would make a good president. Just my opinion.

Many people have flags that are worn out and used, but they just don’t know what to do with them. A government approved way to dispose of the flag is to have it burned at an American Legion, Veterans group or boyscout group. If you know how the ceremony goes you can burn it yourself. Another way that is not as well known is to recycle the flag so that new one’s can be made from the old.

Back when burning a worn out flag was approved, flags were made of Cotton, today they are made of nylon that can harm the environment when burned. Nylon is also a petroleum product, so not only are we harming the environment, but we are increasing our dependency on foreign oil because we need the oil to make more flags. If we recycle used flags we cut down on this need for oil and reduce the demand for it.

Recycling flags is easy, again you contact the same groups as you would if you wanted to burn the flag, but you have to mark your flag’s header with the word RECYCLE. I would call ahead to the group of your choice and make sure that they are involved in the recycling part of this program. Many are still not. You can also check with your local recycling company to find out if they are involved in this.

It seems that many people who are legal citizens of the united states are losing out on rebate checks. The reason why is because they are married to a foreigner. Either they are a solder who married someone they met while out of the country or they are immigrants who have gotten though all of the paperwork, but their spouse did not. Some are even us citizens born here who married a foreigner.

I think this is sad, but something that was overlooked in the battle to fight illegal immigrants getting this money. Personally I don’t think they should get it if they don’t pay taxes. But if you are an immigrant and have filled out taxes in prior years, why shouldn’t you? I know it’s not fair, trust me. I didn’t hit the money limit and I’m a student on top of it so I won’t get one. I won’t even qualify next year because I will still be a student. Apparently students and people married to foreigners don’t spend money. In my opinion most people are not spending it on goods, they are paying off bills and saving it. If they gave this money to a collage student, they would be buying TV’s, Ipods and all the stuff the government wants you to buy. But no they miss out.

I think it’s just too little to late anyway. Even the people who want to save it are just putting it into their gas tanks now. All of our tax dollars are now going to the middle east. If only we had put more into renewable resources that are available in this country, maybe we wouldn’t be seeing this whole mess. At least the gas price part.
