Illegal Immigration, what do you think?

Posted by Holly on Aug 10, 2008 under stuff, us economy

Once again I’m bringing my classwork to my blog. This week we have been talking about immigration and have touched on Illegal Immigration. I seem to be the only one in my class who thinks that Illegal Immigration helps the US and doesn’t hurt us. I feel they don’t take away jobs from US citizans because they are jobs we would not do anyway, no matter how much they paid.

Many people state that some jobs would be filled if they paid more, but prices will go up then and of course then us greedy americans (said with affection) would want more money. I’m wondering what everyone else thinks of this problem. If your from another country is it an issue there too?

Economic Hard Times

Posted by Holly on Jul 22, 2008 under personal, us economy

My mother rents a home. She loves doing it and I love that she has been able to make it succeed. It was out of necessity as she had a new home built just before all of this mortgage mess and the economy going crazy. Actually it was about 2 years before that, but Michigan’s economy has been bad since then, it didn’t start with the housing market like the rest of the country did.

Anyway she just called to see about refinancing the house to put on a new roof, because it needs it. They won’t do it because that house is not worth it. It sucks, because she may have to unload it at a very cheep price now. Hopefully she can do something about it and not worry anymore. There are so many other problems we are having right now and this is something that she shouldn’t have to worry about.

The Fun Part Of Living In Michigan

Posted by Holly on Jul 10, 2008 under money, us economy, website review

Since I live in Michigan on the east side of the state where we are close to Canada you hear a lot of talk right now of people moving there. Yes people have decided the US economy is that bad, they now want to move. There plan is to keep their jobs, if they have them and move across the boarder. Many of these people are now looking for information on immigration laws in Canada. I told one women to bring down her search so that she could actually find a useful site, something like a Toronto Immigration Attorneywhere they would have correct information. A great website is that of Attorney Matthew Jeffery who specializes in immigration laws. The site has most of the information these people would need and they can always contact him for more information.

A few people I talked to just want to go to school there as they think the job market may be better once they are done with school and they will move back. I told one girl who went to school with me for a while that all she would need is a Canadian student visa and she would be okay. I’m sure the school could tell her how to get one, but she can also just look it up on this site and find out a little before deciding what she wants to do.

I’m sad that these people are leaving, but I understand if I could transfer without having to take everything over again I would probably be out of here too.

My Job Recession Proof?

Posted by Holly on Jul 3, 2008 under money, us economy

I was talking with an old friend earlier and he thinks that my job is Recession proof. Now I’m personally not so sure about that as last month I didn’t do very well, but he informed me that advertising actually can pick up when there is a recession because companies have to advertise to get people to shop at their store or buy their product.

I get what he is saying and it sounds great. I’m just wondering if I should be expecting a raise in income or just be thankful I have anything at all. I guess I just get to wait and see. Right now I’m thinking of teaching myself php, another supposedly recession proof job, computer programing.

Reduce Your Debt, Get A Part Time Job!

Posted by Holly on Jul 1, 2008 under News, money, personal, us economy

That sounds great doesn’t it. It sounds like the answer to everyones problems and according to what I read just a few minutes ago it is. Here is the problem with that statement, is there a part time job available for you? Does your full time job allow you to work a part time job. Do you have a job in the first place?

What I read makes getting out of debt sound easy, guess what for most people it’s not. In fact I had a talk with my mom yesterday about this. We have never had extras. Well me and her, my sisters eat out all the time and buy junk. They apparently have the money to do that, oh yeah thats because they took all of mine a few years ago. Anyway the point: We don’t have the extras to cut out, my mom can’t get a part time job because her full time job will not let her. I just can’t find work at all.

It seems I am screwed according to these experts. I can’t take any of their advice, because I have never had the money to do the things they keep saying to cut out. Those extras like going out to eat once or twice a week, going to a move every weekend, or buying that out fit 3 times a month. Yes those are extras for those who don’t know. So here is my question, where is the help for the people who really need it, not the ones who spend too much money because they can’t figure out that money out needs to be equal to or less then money in.
