I am so far very happy with how local and the national government has responded to the latest hurricane Gustav. Now all we do is wait and see what happens. I hope that no one is hurt, but also know these storms can be very powerful. Yesterday I had someone ask me a question. Do I think they should rebuild New Orleans if it is hit this time? Well that’s very hard to me to answer as I have never been there. They asked me because I know a little about architecture and so on.

Here is what I told her. It’s a personal decision for the people who live in that city. Here it is 3 years later and we have another major threat. I guess if you are okay with constantly worrying about your home then rebuild, but if your tired already of working hard and seeing it destroyed or worrying that it’s going to be then maybe it’s time to go somewhere else. New Orleans has a great historical significant to this country and I would hate to see it totally abandoned, but if we can save lives by keeping it a smaller city, maybe that’s a good thing. Again it really is up to the people who live there as to what they want to do, it is their lives, not ours.

Tomorrow at school there is an expo where some projects will be shown to people who may hire someone. Unfortunately I have not had many projects since I started back so my only hope to be shown in the expo is to get our project done today and get it looking really good.

The problem comes with the rest of my group, well not all of them the other girl is worried about it to. I don’t blame the other two for not wanting to do anything, they are freshman and still have 4 years before they have to worry about finding a job. They will have many more projects to do that may look better anyway. While the other girl and I are graduating next year I believe and both will have to be out looking for work. She wants this done well and it will be, but I work amazing under pressure and it will look good and be done tonight.

After being out of school and looking for work for a year I know how hard it is to find a job, the architecture world that the guys will be in may not be as bad, I don’t know. I do know that the interior design profession is very competitive and hard to get a decent job in. Lets put it this way, before I started school I worked at walmart with 4 women who had gone to school for interior design. I knew before I started school this would be hard.

We will see what happens I guess. I leave here around 11 for the 2 hour drive and I won’t be back until 11pm or later. I’m starting to get tired of driving this drive and I love to drive. Oh well.

It’s been a while since I have been to visit one of my favorite cities, Chicago. I use to go there a lot with my father before he passed away. I love going there because you can find so many things to do Chicago. I don’t live far and I know the area well so I already know what I want to see and where it is. I of course would have to go to a cubs game as that is something we always did. Something new I’m adding to my list when I go next year. Is the Neocon convention, it’s a closed design and architecture industry event and I could go this year as I’m a student, but I don’t have the money to. It’s sad, but I can’t do both the NASCAR race and that, they are a week apart and I already bought the race tickets.

Anyway if your looking to check out Chicago or are maybe looking for Things to do in Las Vegas or Dallas you should check out a sightseeing tours with trusted tours, right now they are doing a great GPS system giveaway when you sign up for their newsletter. I have already done this, so I cant but you can! If you decide on a trip to Vegas let me know if you liked it I still want to get out there and am thinking of using trusted tours for some of it.
