Today I was reading a great blog post about different ways to advertise your business. You can do this by using new ways and ideas instead of the same old business cards. One way to do this is to think about Corporate Gifts. You can give out things to your customers and even employees that have your company logo or website on them. Think more then just a card, think pens, t-shirts, mugs or even a car. I would give the car to an employee to drive to and from work though, not to a customer.

I have used these items to promote things before. I sold Avon at one time and I would had out pens and mugs to people who bought from me. It would have my Avon web address and my phone number. It worked well considering almost everyone around me sold Avon. Thats why I don’t sell anymore. I also have a store for my forum where people can buy things with the forum logo on it. Eventually I’ll start giving away items on my forum to members. Everyone loves free stuff, even if it’s for advertising.

About 5 years ago I started selling Avon as my first job. It didn’t work out well and only lasted a few months. It was so bad that I sometimes forget it is considered a job. Looking back I realize I made a few mistakes with that job. One being I wasn’t aggressive enough. Everyone and their aunt sells Avon and I couldn’t bring myself to take customers away from other people. I’ve learned since then that you don’t always have to. Sometimes people shop around, sometimes they will send you business if they like you.

Another thing I did not do is use business cards, now I get business cards online. I prefer using vista print as I have ordered many times from them and have been very happy with the product. I have 3 different business cards from them right now and I have found that switching them up a little will make people pick up the card again and maybe check it out. One women I talked with found my design blog when I left a card at her salon. The first time she looked at it, thought is was interesting and lost the card. The next card she picked up because it was the same one. She then forgot to check out the site. The third time she noticed the name of the site on a different designed card and made sure to keep it. The moral of this story, change a few things, but keep the information the same and keep trying to get that information out there.
