Give Needing Children A Christmas

Posted by Holly on Nov 22, 2008 under charity

Around the world there are many areas that need help, some are wanting food, some education, most though need everything. In a community called Payatas in the Philippians they really deserve some much needed help. I was reading about their life and I have to say it’s something I could never imagine doing.

Everyday they go though a huge mountain of garbage to find things to sell for food. This is not just children but whole family’s hoping to find enough sellable items to get food for just that day. These people don’t have the opportunity to do much else, but with help from outside people maybe they can have a chance. Read though the following press release and find out how you can give a Christmas For Payatas. Also after reading though this check out the you tube video about Christmas for Payatas.

The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate conditions of humanity.

On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival.

In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.

Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised
will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

There might be no race, but do something good anyway

Posted by Holly on Feb 24, 2008 under Going Green, charity, nascar, sports

There is a chance that todays Sprint Cup race may be rained out, but as I was going through the NASCAR website I saw the ad for the NASCAR foundation. This is a great cause that anyone can help out with. Even if your not a NASCAR fan, but you know one you should check this out.

It’s very simple to participate, you buy a pin for $5 that money then goes to the NASCAR foundation, no it does not go to train drivers or pay for races, the money raised goes to helping different charities that NASCAR families have started, many help with chronic illness, education and wildlife conservation, If your still not sure about it, check out this link: supported charities to find out more about each charity and what they do.

I am buying a pin as soon as I’m done writing this. I did this a few years ago also and it’s really a great idea. Unfortunately I didn’t have anywhere to wear the pin on NASCAR Day, but this year I should have somewhere to wear it and anything else I buy before then. This year NASCAR Day is on Friday May 16th so there is still some time to get shopping and your donations in.

Of course I will be posting about this a few more times, so you won’t forget, it really is a great cause and helps thousands of children, families and environments in our country.
