Help Those Who Help Protect Us

Posted by Holly on Nov 29, 2008 under Uncategorized

It seems that during the holidays everyone is running around wondering what they are going to get someone, what they are going to get in return and if they can outdo each other. Some people also wonder about those who need help and try to give where and when they can. If you are one of those people and are looking for a great cause to give to this holiday season you should check out the Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry where you can help to buy gifts for the families of our military personal overseas. You can read the stories of these families and even buy specific items for them if you wish. If you only have a few dollars well, they will take that too.

Many of these families are not going to have their father or mother there for the holidays and many of these solders are worried about their safety and health while they are away. One man asked for blinds for their front room so that people can not see into their home and know he is not their. Another asks for clothes for his children.

Many of the items asked for do not cost much, but would give the children and spouses of these Men and women something to make them happy this Christmas and hopefully next year their father or mother will be home and they won’t have to worry anymore.

Give Needing Children A Christmas

Posted by Holly on Nov 22, 2008 under charity

Around the world there are many areas that need help, some are wanting food, some education, most though need everything. In a community called Payatas in the Philippians they really deserve some much needed help. I was reading about their life and I have to say it’s something I could never imagine doing.

Everyday they go though a huge mountain of garbage to find things to sell for food. This is not just children but whole family’s hoping to find enough sellable items to get food for just that day. These people don’t have the opportunity to do much else, but with help from outside people maybe they can have a chance. Read though the following press release and find out how you can give a Christmas For Payatas. Also after reading though this check out the you tube video about Christmas for Payatas.

The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate conditions of humanity.

On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival.

In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.

Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised
will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

Want To Start Shopping Now?

Posted by Holly on Nov 5, 2008 under shopping, website review

Remember the days when you could start your Christmas shopping in September and have the store keep it until December. Yes the wonderful days of lay-away! I miss them, but there is still one store that has it and they actually carry kids toys and more, yes I am talking about the Kmart Lay-Away. I loved using lay away at my local store, but then they got rid of it and I have decided that the drive to Kmart will be worth it as I can get something and pay for it over time. If I don’t do it that way I won’t have the money to get it.

I am debating on putting the toy we are getting my nephew on layaway. It’s the smart cycle and i think he would love having this to play with and get all of his energy out. He lives in a trailer park where there is nothing to play with, so he could use something like this. The reason I want to put it on layaway is that there is a group of us paying for it and we could each take turns paying on it. that way we are not all scraping for money close to Christmas and are not able to get anything for anyone else.

Of course you don’t have to use layaway for just Christmas we use it for birthdays and more, well everyone else’s birthday we did, mine is 1 week and a few days after Christmas and usually layaway was closed for my birthday. I’m now sure if K-mart is though.

Google Could Help The Recession

Posted by Holly on Oct 23, 2008 under fun

Okay I just woke up and I had this strange dream that I had to share with you. It was about Google and how they helped to stop the recession. How did they do it, simple they gave everyone their pr back until the end of December. Giving people their PR back let them earn more money, which went back into the economy in the form of Christmas and other holiday shopping! How smart would that be? Now I’m not saying that we would ever see this from almighty Google, but hey it was a very nice dream.

I know I would be buying a few things if I could make a thousand a month, one being a new TV, this is for me as mine is going to die when everything switches over, if it physically makes it that long. Other then that I would pay down more on my debt and spend more on Christmas presents. What would you do with another thousand a month?

Looking For Something Different, A Breitling Emergency Watch

Posted by Holly on Sep 24, 2008 under shopping

I love looking at sites online and finding all of these cool things that I could buy for people that I know. I love it because i don’t have sales people making me feel like I have to leave the store if I don’t buy anything. I also like it because I can bookmark the site and come back to buy the item later when I have the money. Recently I did a search for watches as I know my little brother needs one and was thinking of getting him one for Christmas.

I found some great Breitling watches at thewatchery.com that really are not horribly priced as I don’t have a lot to spend on gifts. They do have some very expensive, but useful watches such as their breitling emergency watches that have a ton of extra features for emergencies. These watches are made mostly for pilots and air crews that may have an emergency situation where they need a built in transmitter. I still think it’s kind of cool, but will not spend and don’t have the $4000 to buy it. I know my brother would think it was cool, but he can save up for that one himself. I’m still not sure I’m buying him a watch, but I have time to think about it, Christmas is still 3 months away.

A Watch For Christmas

Posted by Holly on Jun 24, 2008 under personal, stuff

I’m putting two Citizen watches on my Christmas list this year. Hopefully by then I’ll have some rich boyfriend who will buy one for me, a girl can dream right?

Anyway the one I really want is this Silhouette Bangle watch. I love the look of it and I need a feminine dressy watch for special occasions and things. I also like the little charm it has on it. I don’t know why but I have had this weird need to be more girly. I think it’s just time I start acting more like one. My sisters think I already do, but I don’t really. Anyway, the only thing I would like to change on this watch is to make it white gold or silver. Then I could get one of each!
