Get fired for blogging?

Posted by Holly on Apr 8, 2008 under News, personal

I just finished reading an article on Yahoo titled 5 Ways your computer use can get you fired. The first one listed is blogging. Apparently someone was fired because they had an unapproved blog. I found this interesting as I plan on working within the next year as I will have my degree. I do plan on letting anyone I interview for know what I do online as it is on my resume. I also have an interior design blog, the only one I think could cause an issue. Hopefully I can work it so that I can keep the blog and still get a job.

The blogger that was fired worked for CNN, so I do understand why the company fired them at the same time I still think it sucks. The employee though should have known that working in a media field they would be considered a competition and should have gotten permission. Yes we all have a right to do things but when you start covering public people as this blogger did you may be overstepping your work boundary’s.

I believe if it had been a more personal blog, that kept out work related issues or people, the blogger may not have been fired. It just seems strange that you could get fired for blogging.

Who should win the nomination

Posted by Holly on Feb 27, 2008 under Political

I’m still very torn, but my thinking is also starting to change. Right now I think we need a strong president here in the US that is not only a good leader but someone who can speak to the people and make them love this country again. I’m just not seeing that with Hillary anymore.

I expected things to get ugly but I have talked with may Clinton supporters who have started to change their minds after everything that has been going on. You can read more about it on CNN Of course the Michigan primary is way over and won’t count anyway, but what I’m wondering is if she does get the nomination will these people move over to the Republican side, not that there is anything really wrong with it, that is their choice.

As much as I would love to see a women president, I just don’t know if she is the right person anymore. I guess I really shouldn’t worry about it until we know who is running for each party, I can’t vote between them now anyway!
