Weight Loss and Calories

I remember reading somewhere that the real reason that Americans are so overweight is that we just simply eat too much, exercise is not as important as once thought. I have decided to test that theory and so far I have to say I agree. I have been trying very hard to lose weight since I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago. I have not had much luck as I was concentrateing more on my huge amount of carbs I had to have then on my calories. Now that I have brought down my carbs some it’s time for the calories.
I started by limiting myself to 1,500 a day, I can go a little over or under, but that is my average goal. I’m also allowed to splurge one or two days a week, one will always be Wednesdays as I have to eat every meal out. I do lift weights for about 15 minutes a day, and try to walk the dog once or twice a week, but nothing really hard. Since I started this about a week ago I have lost 7 pounds, some I know was water weight, so I would say I actually may have lost 3-5 pounds.
Of course I’m going to continue this, I have found I have so much more energy and money. Cutting calories not only means that you eat less, but you buy less also.

Get Out and Ride Around

I love riding bikes and this time of year is the best time to do that. You can ride around your town, check out nature at a park or even take beach bikes out to the beach and have some sunny fun with your family.
Rideing a bike is the best way to get the exercise you need and have fun at the same time. Almost anyone can ride a bike and children love to do it too. I know my niece spends a lot of time on her bike, something she needs to actually do more of as she’s overweight. Her problem is that she doesn’t like to do anything exercise like, not even the wii. She will though, get out and ride her bike.

Kids Have Hit A New Low

This morning my niece got on the wii fit and was done after 5 minutes. She then put in an exercise video for kids and proceeded to sit and watch it. Yes sit and watch it. We then asked her why she wasn’t up and doing anything and she said she always sits and watches it. Her friends do it too.
Now she could be telling a small story here as she does do that sometimes. But really what has it come to that kids now sit and watch exercise videos. I know we need to do something about it but I’m not sure what as it seems her mom just doesn’t seem to deal with it. She knows there is a problem, but she thinks it’s because she eats too much. I think it’s because she doesn’t move. I guess it’s time for some internet research.

I Need To Lose Weight

Last year I lost over 50lbs this year I have gained almost 30 of it back. It’s sad and I can feel the difference. I have less energy, my blood sugars are crazy and I am really depressed. I think the depression and stress I have is part of the problem. I know actually that stress is a huge part as I have lost 5lbs since school ended on Wednesday.
I know exercise helps a lot with stress so I have been trying to lift weights more the last few days. I think that has helped a lot. I wish I could do more cardo, but it’s cold out and I don’t have the money to buy clothing to go outside and my wonderful treadmill has been moved to make way for the huge TV and video games that my sisters bf and my brother play. I have tried to get this fixed, but no one wants to listen to me as I didn’t use the treadmill much before.
I guess I’ll do what I can for now and hopefully winter does not last that long. I wish we had a mall closer to us, that way I could walk around it and get some exercise.

Why I need to get rid of stress.

I was reading today about how diabetics are at a higher risk of a heart attack then most other people. Pretty much we are at the same risk of having a heart attack as someone who has already had one. The reason being is that we usually have huge blood pressure issues that don’t get checked or we ignore. Now I have always watched my blood pressure and tried to make sure it stayed down. That was until I became diabetic and didn’t know I was. Now I work hard to keep it down.
One way I do this is by trying to stay as relaxed as possible. I need to lose weight

For the last week I have been having some strange pains in my chest. I also have not been feeling well and I have now figured out why. At least I think so. I need to lose weight, not with diet pills or some miracle cure, but with exercise. I had to go take pictures yesterday of houses for my class. I walked at least a mile and I felt great. The pain in my chest went away and so did some of my other issues. I went to the store to shop today, so I got some more walking in and tomorrow I’m going to take more pictures.
I had been lazy when it came to my exercise the last few months, but now I’m being reminded that I need to get out there and move. The treadmill sucks as I get bored with it. I think it’s because I have to stare at a wall. Once I move it’s going where I can see the TV at least. That way I can keep up my walking all winter.

Going for a Bike Ride

Spring is almost here and I keep thinking maybe I should hop on my bike and take a long ride when the weather is better. I use to love riding my bike. So I went to the basement to check it out and it’s not there. My mom gave it to my sister to use. She gave it to a friend of hers who needed it to ride with her daughter, the bad part is my sister told her she could keep it. So now I’m thinking I need a new Bike.
I was looking online and I found the site Cruiser style and they have a great selection of bikes. I love the style of them and the color selection. Exercise has become a big part of my life now and hopefully doing something I enjoy will help me to exercise more then I have been. I live in the country and I can go out and ride for miles without a problem. Maybe it will help me, I mean who doesn’t love going out and riding their bike?
