Sustainable Saturday: An Architectural Farm

I found a blog post about this very interesting architectural concept called the Dragon Fly. It’s a self sustaining farm designed by Vincent Callebaut Architecture. This architectural farm will allow for living, laboratory and other work spaces along with providing food for the city surrounding it. It has been said that as we continue to grow as a population food will be harder to come by. We also as a society are trying to discard our dependence on oil to help save money and the environment. This could be a very good solution to getting food to major cities where ground space is limited.

Yes this looks huge, but I kind of like it. It’s interesting and since it sustains itself could be worth the cost to build it. What is your first reaction to this conceptual building, do you think this is the way of the future or just a fun design that will never happen?
