I’m reading on yahoo as I usually end up doing a few times a day and I come across this story on global warming and how we really could be in some big trouble soon. Now I was enjoying my reading until I got to this part.

Longtime global warming skeptic Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., citing a recent poll, said in a statement, “Hansen, (former Vice President) Gore and the media have been trumpeting man-made climate doom since the 1980s. But Americans are not buying it.”

The first though in my head after reading this was “who are you to tell me what I believe and what I think!” Personally I feel that most Americans are not stupid and can see what is right in front of their damn face. Now if this man stopped getting his income from oil and other environmentally harming companies then maybe he would see differently.

This brings me to my question, the title of my post. Global Warming are you buying it or do you think it’s just a made up dooms day scenario?

Happy Earth day everyone! Today I have a great list of websites you can check out to find more information on global warming and the history of earth day. I also have a great site where you can help save the rain forest for free. Thats right you don’t have to spend a dime. What do you have to do? Well just click the picture under this paragraph and thats it. You can also come back here every day and do it or bookmark the site and visit on your own.

The Rainforest Site
Another free way to help save the environment is to check out Ecology Fund.com they also have a click to save option. So it’s still free. Keep in mind with both of these sites you can buy products that help to support the cause even more. So if you have the cash you should check it out.
Global warming is real. We as humans have helped to speed up a natural process and there are things we can do to slow it back down. Many of these things will save us money in the long run and help keep the world cleaner for the next generation, your kids, grand kids or great grand kids. Whichever applies. I have many post on ways that you can go green if you would like to check them out click that link. I pride myself on the information I have in those post and I hope you will look at them closely.

Global warming is a fact, it is not something made up by scientist or tree huggers to make your life miserable. It is something that will change how we live anyway so why not do something now to make the world better for your grandchildren and their grandchildren. I know many of us don’t have money to spend, but even a little can help a lot. Change your light bulbs to florescent. Recycle whatever you can.

Today I read an article on yahoo about the rain forest. Because of global warming and bad practices by people who live in the area the rain forest are disappearing. This means a lot more then you think. There is more carbon being released from the dead trees and since there are not as many trees to use it they can’t cope. This doesn’t just effect the temperature it effects peoples lives. They will lose soil and a way to eat and survive.

What does this mean for you. Well a huge rise in temperature. Lets put it this way, no more winters, and way too hot summers. The proof is even just in my lifetime and I’m 25. Winter use to be much longer and I liked it because you had time to get use to the cold. There was also usually snow on Christmas. Now there is hardly anything and it gets cold so quick that you don’t have time to grow accustom to it. The other problem is that summers are hotter and killing more and more people.

Maybe I just expect too much out of mankind. Maybe I don’t expect enough.

As an interior design student we talk alot about the environment and global warming. We talk about ways to decrees global warming by building green and recycling. The big question is does it even exists and what can you do to slow it down.

I think that even if you believe it doesn’t exists. pollution is still a true factor of life and many of the things that you would do to prevent pollution will help with global warming. So do those things. If you live in a city and don’t leave it often take a drive way out in the country. You must be at least 2 hours from the nearest major city. When you see the word village and miles of farmland around it your there. Step out of the car and breath. It smells different, you can actually breath better and you can see alot farther then you can in the city. Why? There is not as much pollution. Wouldn’t that be nice to have in your city?

So if pollution is real and pollution is a cause of global warming wouldn’t that make global warming real too? Now I don’t think it is just pollution that is causing global warming, but a natural warming of the earth that we have just helped speed up. So instead of it happening 5000 years from now, it may happen within the next 100 or 1000 years.

What can you do to help stop global warming. There are many things you can do and they will even help you save money. Use less heat and air conditioning by insulating your home. This will save you alot of money in the long run. Also buy better fuel efficient cars, Yes I know you like your truck or your gas hog hummer, but think about how much you spend in gas with one of those. If your not worried about gas prices, then you need to be donating some of that cash to charity instead of putting it in your gas tank.

If you have a good amount of land check into thermal heat. I have done some research on this and it’s a great system that will heat and cool your home using the constant temperature of the ground. It can even be converted into electricity. Perfect for the northern areas that don’t get much sunlight.

There are also many more ways to help stop pollution and global warming. I will be starting a new series on that called Going Green Monday.  I hope you enjoy it.  If there is a environmentally friendly system you would like to have featured or know more about, please comment here or contact me and I will get a post done about it.
