Make Your Home Smell Very Good

I have a cat and I love her to death, but she can make the upper floor of the house smell as that is where her litter box is. Since it’s in the hallway it’s even worse as the hall has no windows to it. I usually just spray something if I know I have just cleaned the box and it doesn’t need it again, but that gets old fast.

TriScentsNow the other day I got a great sample for TriScents. I decided I would see how well it worked in the hallway to cover up the litter box smell. Well I have to say it worked great. At first it was a very strong smell, but after I turned it down to the low setting it wasn’t so bad. The hallway is a small area, so I’m sure that had something to do with it. I love how the scent changes, I have it plugged in right outside of my bedroom door and I can smell a new scent every once in a while. The scent combination I got was morning meadow and I like it, but I’m hoping they come out with some fruit scents and holiday ones too. Try TriScents for yourself, visit their website and get a coupon for $1 off any air freshener

Finding a home

I’m still hoping to move by the end of summer and I thought maybe I should look to see if I can find a cheep home to buy. I checked out a few that were in foreclosure and there was one that would be perfect. I just don’t think that I could get a loan for it as I intend to move next June again since I hope to have a job somewhere. I just think it would be nice to get a home and fix it up. I could take pictures of the before and after and go from there. My little sisters are going to be doing this and they have a lot of work to do as they are turning a 2 unit home into a single family. I would just be updating and maybe taking down a wall depending on the layout.

I just don’t think I can do it as my credit is not good and I am self employed and only make around 800 a month. I can wish though right?

No Green Thumb? Get Silk Instead

I love plants, I have many in my home and in fact I have a certificate in green house and floral design. Silk palm treeNeedless to say I’m usually very good with plants. Some people on the other hand are not so I have a great suggestion for you, try silk plants. Silk plants look exactly like real plants, they just never die. You do want to dust them off occasionally and spray them with a product that will protect them and make them shine, but other then that no maintenance is required.

When I was in school for my certificate I worked with both real and silk plants. The silk was much easier to use and was preferred for arrangements more then real flowers. Many people have silk plants, my own mother is not great with plants, so she says, so she has silk trees do decorate our home. Trust me unless someone walks up and looks and touches your silk tree or plant, they will never know the difference. There really is no downside to getting a silk plant for your home. Unless your like me and love plants, but even I have a silk plant I bought a few years ago.

Find something good for your home.

I am sitting at school right now working on some old projects that I need to update for my portfolio. I’m really excited about doing this because I need to have a good portfolio to show when I graduate. One thing I am working on is a kitchen and I forgot how much fun I had putting this kitchen together and I thought I would share with all of you a great site I found where you can get some nice stuff for your home.

American Home Crafthas a really nice selection of cabinetry and they also have some great prices. I love the styles and wish that I could use them in my designs, but the design program I am using won’t let me. They offer more then cabinetry though, they also have siding and windows. Really everything you would need to redo your home.

I may be ordering a few things from them soon as my mom is thinking of redoing our rental unit. I’m hopeing she makes up her mind soon. I would love to add that to my portfolio too.

A search for a new home

Not only am I moving my my sisters are still on a hunt for a new home themselves. They thought have hit a snag. They have to find a new Mortgage Lender since they now also have to have a lawyer involved since the two buying the home are not married or related to each other in any way. This makes sense to me since any of the 4 could walk away at any time and leave the rest of them screwed. The two boys could also sell the home out from under my sisters if they wanted to also, that there is still nothing they can do about as they will have no owning interest in the home.

I tried to tell them there would be a lot more to it then just walking into a bank and getting a loan. They also now have to come up with a down payment since they are switching lenders. They didn’t need one before because of the bank they were using. I think some of this also has to do with a crackdown on bad lending practices and the mortgage mess. At least things are changing even if it makes it harder for them. I look at it this way, if they can’t afford it they probably won’t be able to do it now, a good thing being thats what brought on this whole mess in the first place, people couldn’t actually afford what they were buying.

Fun with kids

I got a call from my sister this morning asking me to babysit until their normal babysitter got home. So off I went at 8am to my sisters where there were 2 very awake children to watch. I love my niece and nephew and things went well until my niece started crying, she’s only 6 months old and is teething so she wanted to be held.

At this point my 1 1/2 year old nephew decides to play in the dinning room with the kittens. I walked out to see what he was doing and he has a floor heater vent pulled out of the floor and a kitten in his hand. I start to walk toward him and he puts the kitten into the vent. At this point I panic a little, set the baby down and pull the kitten out just before it tries to run off down the vent. This is not the worst part. There are 3 kittens and at this point I can only find 2. I had already put the vent back in place and couldn’t get it back up with the kids awake. The good news is that when the other sitter showed up all three kittens came out to see her, so they were all okay. I love my nephew but he is going to be a handful when he hits 2.

Cover youself

Blinds are very important when you are designing a home, why? Well not only do they provide privacy but they also will keep out heat, cold and keep your furniture and carpet from fadeing. One site I love to check out is Select Blinds because they have a great selection of blinds and good prices. Check them out and see for yourself.

If you get the right kind of blinds you can lower your heating and cooling cost and save yourself some select blindsmoney so look around and find ones that are right for your home. There are many types for all types of windows. You can even have custom blinds made for those half circle windows that are hard to cover. Most people love to let the sunlight in so I reccomend finding blinds that will allow you to open the window and hide the blinds when you don’t want them there, but also ones that will cover the window when you do need them.
