Done With School Now Looking For Work

 - by Holly

Well, after 6 years I am finnaly done with school. I now am upping my job search, hopefully I have some luck as I really love interior design and I am very ready to get out into the workplace. I also would love the money, but really I did go to school to do something I love and that is really what I want to do.

I’m figuring I’ll give the search about 6 months, if I don’t find anything by then I may start my own business. I really hope to get into a job and get a few years of experience before I decide to start my own business, but I also know that may not happen.

Economy Better?

 - by Holly

I am hearing more and more how the economy is getting better. I have to say it looks like it could be, but I’m sure not getting benefits from it yet. I do know that in order for businesses to start hiring people need to start spending again, that apparently is happening. Now I really want to know when those jobs are going to start picking up. I know for me it will be a while before I get anything as my job search has not gone well. I’m the low person on the list and I’m sure that businesses will want experienced workers not someone just out of collage. Why hire fresh when you can get someone who knows their stuff.

Personally when I have my own interior design business I will hire people in school and just out of it, but I like to train people to my thinking, not have someone that I may clash with, I also would like to give people the opportunity I didn’t have. My internship was horrible, I have yet to find work in my field so I know how that is. Of course I may never get my own business I may be that women on the street begging you for change or a hot cup of coffee. You never know.

All I can hope for is that these people are right and the economy is improving. What do you think are we out of the worst of it?

Network Online, Find Jobs and Help

 - by Holly

Everyone right now seems to be looking for jobs. It’s a hard time to find anything but if you think out of the box a little and do an online job search you will find that there are many places to apply. Check job boards and job listings sites and you will find that people are hiring. That said, what if your just looking for jobs part time and need the rest of your time to take care of kids or work another job. Well if your specialized in something you can check out Mavenlink, a site where you can use your skills to help people get jobs done.

UnknownSome of the request are as simple as printing up professional business cards, others require that you design a website or a landing page. One is for Mavenlink, they would like someone to create a user guide, unfortunately it’s already taken. This would be a great site for jobs for grads as it will get you some experience and real world projects to add to your portpholio.

This site is also a must for professionals as it allows you to get the projects you need done at a reasonable price. You also may be introduced to talent that you never would have known about before, giving you the edge against your competition.

What Is My Dream Job?

 - by Holly

As you can see from the video my dream job is one where I can help people. Do you have a dream job, if you do you should make a video yourself and submit it to Future Resume, you could win one day at your dream job!

Also if you are looking for work, sign up for the site is free, eventually you will have to pay a monthly fee for it, but check it out now and hopefully you will have that job before then. I have to say I love the idea of doing a video resume, sometimes it someone seeing you that can make an impression. The site also allows paper resumes and all the normal things a job search site has. The video is what makes this site cool and different. I think it’s the wave of the future.
