Auto Bailout And Unions

 - by Holly

I hate unions, well okay not all unions, but mostly the UAW. Why, well because they are a huge cause of all of this auto mess. If they just would get the idea that they were greedy and they need to stop. They make way to much money and they don’t need more in fact cut their wages in half and I will be very happy.

Many of you are saying well I thought unions were good, well live in Michigan, one of the most expensive states to buy a car. Live in Michigan where the price of everything shot up every time these auto workers got a raise or went on strike. Live in a family that is not in the auto industry, but is still majorly effected by it and see how you feel then. They have run this state into the ground by being greedy and unreasonable. Working in an auto factory does not require a collage degree, so why do they make more then my mom who went to school for over 4 years and has a degree?

The UAW took advantage of what they had to the point where they are killing it. They don’t care about anything but keeping as much money in their pocket as possible. Now, I’m not saying that the actual workers for these factories are bad people, they do a lot of good things, but live off of 20,000 a year right now and see how you feel, live off of 8,000 a year and really learn how people are effected by the economy.

Part of me hopes that at least one of these companies fails because maybe it will get the point across. The sad part is I still don’t think that will work. These people would rather have money now, then a job a year from now. It’s just very sad that the UAW greed effects everyone else in the country.

Meme: Wednesday Weirdness

 - by Holly

1. Why do you keep a blog?

I keep a blog because I want to meet new people and have a place to express myself and ideas.

2. Who is one long lost blogger you wish would come back?

My friend, she started out so well, but just couldn’t keep up with it.

3. If you made a New Year’s Resolution, did you break it already? If you did not make one, why?

Kinda of, but it was more of a work on doing something more thing, so we still have time before I can say if I broke it or not.

4. People who still have their outside Christmas lights up. Festive or Lazy? Discuss.

Nether, in Michigan it is usually still really cold right now, so it’s more of a health and cold issue here. If it’s not cold they are lazy.

5. What is the last annoying song that got trapped in your head?

Mama Mia-sung by my step dad. The original is okay

6. Have you ever worn or tried edible underwear? What are your thoughts on it?

Can’t say I have though I know people who have.

Bonus: If you could do one bad thing and get away with it, what would you do and why?

I would rob a bank so that my mom wouldn’t have to worry about money, I wouldn’t need a lot just enough to catch up on some bills.

Warm Weather In December?

 - by Holly

Today we could see temperatures into the 60′s here in Michigan. If it wasn’t so rainy out this would be great. The weather though does not want to give us a nice warm sunny day so it’s not as much fun. I do plan on opening up windows and airing things out today. It’s a good thing my mom installed ceiling fans in every room so we won’t have to keep the doors open too long.

It will be nice to get rid of the stuffy smell and feeling in the house though and of course get some freash air, we have been stuck inside the last few weeks because it’s just been too cold and windy. The bad part about this whole thing is everything is melting and flooding is going to happen. I don’t know it would just be nice to have kept the snow the way it was. I like snow, but not the cold.

Auto Bailout Fails

 - by Holly

Since I live in Michigan this whole automotive industry failing thing really will effect me a lot. Though I am open to moving out of state in June when I graduate it would be nice to be able to get though the next 6 months. I have to say I don’t blame the government for this one, I blame the UAW and their greedy butts. Seriously did they think before they said no to a pay cut, do they really think that congress cares that there workers make over $50 an hour for doing nothing. Trust me they don’t. They see a corrupt and stupid industry that needs to grow up and get it’s head on straight.

The only reason I want to see the auto industry fail is so that the UAW will go down with it. They have made life in Michigan hard for anyone who is not in the auto industry by making prices for everything go up to where other can barely afford to live, yet the auto workers had 2 or more houses and took at least 2 vacations a year. Seriously I didn’t know what a vacation was until I was over 16. Okay I knew, but I never had really been on a family vacation.

I really do not want to see the auto makers fail, except for the reason above, I think too many people nationwide would be effected by this, but something needs to change as they just can not compete with the foreign automakers and still pay their workers what the UAW want’s them to. I don’t know what is going to happen, but I dread a world where any of the big 3 have fallen, we have so many out of work now, just think what would happen if another 3 million or more were let go.

Do you have an opinion? (mean or impolite responses will be edited.)

Looking For Fun

 - by Holly

I haven’t gotten out much this past year because of school, but the other day I was thinking about this upcomming summer and things that I could do since I won’t be in school anymore. I was thinking of getting a couple of beach bikes since I live in Michigan and well, we do have beaches.

I looked over a few at Cruiserstyle.com and found a few I liked, but as always I probably will not have the money to buy one. I may just have to rent one somewhere instead. Unless someone want’s to be really nice and buy me one for my Birthday!

Winter Is Here

 - by Holly

Okay it’s not official for another month, but the way the wind is howling at my window tells me that winter has hit here in Michigan and it won’t be going away any time soon. I’m actually kind of happy about it. I love the snow and sitting inside watching the snow fall, but I don’t like the cold, so I’m kinda hoping that by February it starts to warm up really well and we can get back to some nice days.

I have made the most of the last few days since it has been cold and rainy here. I started reading the Twilight series and I have to say I like it, but for me it’s not as good and addicting as other books I have read. I do see where people would be crazy over it, but for me it’s not like Harry Potter, or some other big books I have read. I do plan on finishing the series soon, my friend is loaning them to me so that I can read them.  I should have the last two done by the end of next week as I have papers to write at the begaining of the week. Really it takes me about 5 hours or so to read though these books. Yes I read fast.

Winter for me is a time to relax and enjoy things indoors, like reading or writing. I’m really looking forward to the month I have off so that I can keep reading more. I love books and have missed reading entertaining books, text books are just not the same.

History And Changeing Times

 - by Holly

I have to say I love being a huge part of history in a good way. Being able to write about this election and support a candidate that has made such an impact on the country is so amazing. Not only is the presidential election a big deal, but for me a local election has been a great success to. I wrote about both of Michigan’s proposals on my blogs before and I am happy to say that both proposals passed, stem cell research will continue and be a great success in Michigan and people in pain will be able to find relief for their pain by being allowed to use medical marijuana.

I’m hoping the next 4 years bring great change and hope to everyone and things actually get done for the people of the united states. I guess only time will tell.
