This week the wonderful people of OPEC cut oil production to keep prices up. Really do they think that is going to work? I know most American people are to the point where they are tired of paying high oil prices and now know how to make them drop. We cut down on our use and switch to cars that get better gas mileage or don’t use gas at all. Yes this switch will take time, but if they want oil prices back up I think it will just drive people all over the world to change what they use and how much they use it.

I see oil prices slipping a lot more over the next few months, driving in general slows during the winter, so it is going to happen, I think though that with more people losing their jobs and not having to go anywhere we are going to see a huge decrease in oil consumption. I’m happy about that part, just not happy as to why the decrease is happening.

I was reading today about people who have moved to help reduce their gas intake. I guess I am not the only one who thought this was a great idea and that is a good thing. One women I read about moved because she lived 60 miles from her teaching job. Another lived 30 miles from his job. His choice was between food and gas.

It’s sad when it comes down to things like that, even for me it’s a combination of food and health or gas. I ate out so much over the last year that I didn’t lose much weight and felt horrible. Not good when your diabetic and trying to get off insulin. I do like the trend though as it means we are starting to realize that this is a problem and we have to change our dependency on oil. I personally hope that if I can buy this house that I can take my bike and use that to get to school when the weather is good. There is no reason why I couldn’t.

yes that is what you can get if your buy a new Chrysler vehicle. Right now they are running a promotion to get you to buy their cars and I think it is a great idea, though it won’t help us to stop our dependency on foreign oil.

You can get more information here, but I will give a summary of how it works. You buy the car and you get a gas card that is hooked to your debit or credit card. When you use the card you will be charged the $2.99 per gallon, the rest of the cost will be sent to Chrysler to pay for. According to the article other manufacturers are watching this program and may offer something similar. I think it’s a great way to get people to buy better fuel efficient cars, and help them save some money. What do you think?
