I thought that McCain said hew was going to stop his campaign starting today he was not going to show any ad’s on TV. I just saw one so now I’m confused did I miss something. I was really looking forward to not seeing a bunch of negative ad’s for the next few days. I guess I lose and someone lied or the tv station was not told about it!

I’m getting very tired with the “they caused this” and “They did this” thing, they did not do anything. Congress as a whole does things. I really just wish they would stick to what they are going to do and not what their opponent did. Thats one reason I love Obamas new ad where he explains what he wants to do and points you to his website to read more. I don’t know if McCain has an ad like this as I haven’t seen one, but I think he needs to start telling us what he’s planning on doing. I don’t care about the past, I care about how we are going to fix our future. The past is done and we can not do anything about it.

That said, yes I still plan on voting for Obama in the election as I agree more with his views and ideas them McCain’s. I also feel that Obama knows more about normal everyday people and their life’s. He has been though many of the same issues I have and knows what it’s like to go hungry or not have money to buy something. They say that the things you have been though make you who you are today. I feel that what Obama has experienced has made him who he is, but also will be in the back of his mind as president. I’m not saying McCain has not been though things, just that they were different things and I don’t think they really help him relate to the average person.

It was announced very early this morning apparently. I don’t have a cell phone so I couldn’t sign up for anything. Yes I know it’s crazy I don’t have one, but I’m still paying off the $900 bill a friend racked up for me. This is why this post is not being written at 3 am.

Anyway I have to say I’m not sure about this pick, mostly because I really don’t know much about this person and their views. I agree more with Obama’s views then McCain’s so he still gets my vote as of now, but I know I need to learn more about the next guy. Why? The job is not that important right? Wrong, people forget that the VP is next in line and should be someone you like just as much as the guy actually running for president. Also I think the job of the VP may one day start to mean something more and we better have a good guy in office when it does.

From what I have read about him it seems like he has all of the things that Obama lacks, but enough similarities to make the ticket work. He has foreign policy experience as well has having been in the national political scene for a while now. He’s even run for president himself. I think another good thing about him is that he has stated that he thinks Obama is not ready for president, this is a good thing because he will help him, he will be there to support him more then someone who just thinks they are there for the ride.

Last night I was watching the news and they were talking about some of the new campaign ad’s for the US presidential election. Now I understand that we are getting closer and we are going to see more of these ads, but seriously what do you think of the one blaming Obama for oil prices or the one about how he likes some higher priced food? Don’t we have better things to talk about besides who may be more High maintenance?

Personally I would rather hear about their plans for the economy and what they want to try to do as president. I want to know what they think about what is going on with our country. Show this on these ads that are shown everywhere, don’t just talk about it during a press conference or a rally. Right now we don’t need the negative, we need positive and we need answers.

I for one am happy that Obama is now the nominee. I think Clinton did a great job running, but I don’t feel she would make the best choice for president. I don’t mind her as a VP though as I think if both her and Obama could work together they would be a great team. They have many of the same goals and ideas.

My little brother said it best the other day. He said “if choosing a candidate takes this long I don’t think I want to deal with it when I can vote.” This is what worries me as I have noticed my little brother seems to think like most people his age. They are tired of hearing about it, mostly because they can’t vote. I hope it doesn’t turn them off to voting once they can. I do agree that the race for the democratic party went on too long and I’m happy to see it done and over with.

I was reading last night how women are writing into the democratic committee saying that both Michigan and Florida should be seated and Clinton should get all of the votes. I disagree with this as in Michigan we only had one democratic choice and many people including myself did not vote because of that fact alone. We felt we had no actual choice.

What I am wondering with all of this is do the women who are so supportive of Hillary know what she actually wants to do as president or have they just decided she’s female and I love her! Keep in mind there is nothing wrong with your choice I’m just wondering. This thought came into my head last night when I read this article because a women stated that she would rather support McCain then Obama. The thing is when you look at both Democratic candidates they really do have most of the same goals. Trust me I have done a lot of research into this, both before January, when I still wasn’t sure who to vote for, and when they talked about having a re vote. I judge based on what they want to do and how the candidate presents themselves. I just feel that Hillary has kind of cracked under pressure and because of that resulted to tactics that just did not make me feel she would make a good president. Just my opinion.

I’m one of those people who don’t choose a candidate based on anything but what that person themselves stands for. In January I believed that Hillary was a good choice for the job as president. Now I am a supporter of Obama. Why, well because I don’t agree with how Hillary has handled herself and some of the things she stands for. While I don’t agree with everything Obama has said either, I think he is a better person for the job.

The main reason being his background and what he has been though in life. He was poor he knows what it’s like to be on assistance and need help. He also speaks well which for me right now is a huge deal. I can not stand listening to Bush talk. I think we need a president who can command the attention of the citizens of the united states and people all over the world. This man could possibly do just that. My mom compares him to Kennedy. She has liked Obama since before he decided to run for president. Even then he knew how to grab your attention.

I think the problem with this election is that everyone wants and needs change, both of the democratic candidates are pushing for change and both could do it. On the Republican side I also think McCain could make some changes, but at the same time he supports things I don’t support. This election is monumental not just because of who is running but what this election will mean for the future of the united states and the world. I believe this is a huge turning point in our history and when they look back on it, I hope they will see a great and wonderful outcome, not just more war and violence.

I was reading on yahoo today about a proposal by McCain that congress needs to get rid of the gas tax for summer and make sure that students can get loans next year. This effects me a lot as I’m a student who has to drive 2 hours to school when I have class. The worst part is most of my classes are at night and on different days. I also take online classes to keep from having to drive.

I think this would be a great idea even if they were to cut the taxes in half it would help many people who have to drive a long distance. I also think making sure that student can get loans is a big deal as many who have them need them to continue in school. I am one of those, if I can’t get a loan I don’t go and then I have to start paying back the loans I have, with no job because I haven’t finished my degree. I know many students are in the same place I am, hopefully something will be done to help us all.

This is one reason I’m an independent voter, sometime candidates come up with some great ideas, but they are from a party you don’t normally vote for, being an independent I don’t’ feel ties with any one party. It’s nice, but I’m still not changing over just yet. I still disagree with the war, but I have gone from liking Hillary more, to liking Obama a lot more. I think he could be a president that can fix the image of the US and bring the country back together. I also like how he speaks, he does it well. Hillary does too, but I noticed the other day I had to turn off the TV when they interviewed Bush because I can’t stand to listen to him. He does not sound like he knows what he’s talking about, even if he does. I have the same problem with teachers sometimes. If they don’t sound right I don’t want to listen.

Anyway back to gas prices. What do you think about getting rid of the gas tax from memorial day to labor day?
