So many collage students live in dorms and need a quick easy way to make most of their food. Right now with the economy the way it is even collage students have trouble buying food on campus or off. Many are making meals right in their small rooms. A great idea would be to get them a Black & Decker Stainless Steel Infrawave Toaster Oven from Buy.com. It toast, bakes and will even cook up steaks and chicken. It will also cook items up to 50% faster without preheating and has both a broiling rack and a browning rack. The best part is that this toaster oven uses less electricity then other toaster ovens, a great bonus for the more environmentally aware student.
This really is a great gift for any dorm student because it’s small stylish with a stainless steal finish and will get the job done, the best part is it’s on sale at buy.com for $59.99. Not a bad price at all and it’s so useful. I plan on getting one or at least one like it when I move. It’s perfect for a single person who doesn’t need to use a whole oven. If your looking for a gift for that collage student or single person you really should check this oven out it’s a great deal.

There is a huge reason I complain about not finding a job. I live in Michigan. Where the unemployment rate is now over 8% well above the national average of about 5%. If you don’t believe me read about the problems. Yahoo has a great article about the economic problems here. If you don’t feel something you are heartless.
Many of these people will never see the jobs they once had come back, auto companies are gone forever no matter what some people here say. It just cost too much to pay people here. Unions have killed the auto industry.
The story talks about people my age trying to find work. One homeless who is worried he won’t get a job because he doesn’t have a phone number, just email. I’m assuming he checks it at a local library or at school. Yes he is homeless and a student. One man won’t even put his degree on his resume because he’s afraid of being told what I have been, your overqualified.
I have heard people in other states claim that they have it the hardest with gas prices and the housing market, but they are working and the jobs in their areas are either stable or growing some. How do they have it hard when we have nothing, are losing our jobs and no hope of anything for a while. Our Governor is working hard to get industry here in Michigan, but it’s not easy, even then they will not employ as many people as the auto industry and it will take years to catch on.
So next time your looking at high gas prices and heading to your job, think about the people who are having to pay these high gas prices just to find a job, many who unfortunately won’t be finding anything for a long time. They are the ones hurting the most.

It seems that many people who are legal citizens of the united states are losing out on rebate checks. The reason why is because they are married to a foreigner. Either they are a solder who married someone they met while out of the country or they are immigrants who have gotten though all of the paperwork, but their spouse did not. Some are even us citizens born here who married a foreigner.
I think this is sad, but something that was overlooked in the battle to fight illegal immigrants getting this money. Personally I don’t think they should get it if they don’t pay taxes. But if you are an immigrant and have filled out taxes in prior years, why shouldn’t you? I know it’s not fair, trust me. I didn’t hit the money limit and I’m a student on top of it so I won’t get one. I won’t even qualify next year because I will still be a student. Apparently students and people married to foreigners don’t spend money. In my opinion most people are not spending it on goods, they are paying off bills and saving it. If they gave this money to a collage student, they would be buying TV’s, Ipods and all the stuff the government wants you to buy. But no they miss out.
I think it’s just too little to late anyway. Even the people who want to save it are just putting it into their gas tanks now. All of our tax dollars are now going to the middle east. If only we had put more into renewable resources that are available in this country, maybe we wouldn’t be seeing this whole mess. At least the gas price part.

I got an online phone card a few years ago and I hadn’t had to use it yet. I got it for a friend of mine when our cell phones were turned off because I lost my job and couldn’t pay the bill anymore. He is diabetic and didn’t have another phone and couldn’t get one because of a roommate who ran up the home phone bill. I did want him to go without a phone so I get him the cell. Then I felt bad because I got his cell turned off because I couldn’t pay my part of the bill anymore. He never used it as another friend got him a cell phone under their plan. Apparently he has some good friends!
Anyway yesterday I finally had a chance to use it. I was surprised that I still could other phone cards I have had expired quickly and you had to use them within at least a year. The one I got online doesn’t expire until 2010. Not bad I think, the best part is I paid about $20 for 1000 minutes. It was a deal I couldn’t pass up. I just love how things work out like that. I’m just happy I have it in case of an emergency since I don’t have a cell phone right now and can’t really offered the extra payment a month for even a pre-paid. I’m hoping to be able to soon, but until then using a calling card will work when I’m on the road. As long as my car doesn’t break down were okay.
The other thing I like about this card is it has a cheep rate for overseas calling. I think I’ll let my mom use it to call our exchange student and get his address so she can finally send his Christmas gift to him. She sent it before Christmas and it got sent back because of the wrong address.

I was reading on yahoo today about a proposal by McCain that congress needs to get rid of the gas tax for summer and make sure that students can get loans next year. This effects me a lot as I’m a student who has to drive 2 hours to school when I have class. The worst part is most of my classes are at night and on different days. I also take online classes to keep from having to drive.
I think this would be a great idea even if they were to cut the taxes in half it would help many people who have to drive a long distance. I also think making sure that student can get loans is a big deal as many who have them need them to continue in school. I am one of those, if I can’t get a loan I don’t go and then I have to start paying back the loans I have, with no job because I haven’t finished my degree. I know many students are in the same place I am, hopefully something will be done to help us all.
This is one reason I’m an independent voter, sometime candidates come up with some great ideas, but they are from a party you don’t normally vote for, being an independent I don’t’ feel ties with any one party. It’s nice, but I’m still not changing over just yet. I still disagree with the war, but I have gone from liking Hillary more, to liking Obama a lot more. I think he could be a president that can fix the image of the US and bring the country back together. I also like how he speaks, he does it well. Hillary does too, but I noticed the other day I had to turn off the TV when they interviewed Bush because I can’t stand to listen to him. He does not sound like he knows what he’s talking about, even if he does. I have the same problem with teachers sometimes. If they don’t sound right I don’t want to listen.
Anyway back to gas prices. What do you think about getting rid of the gas tax from memorial day to labor day?

I’ve had yet another mystery bill added to my credit report. I have no idea what it’s for as I have soo many medical bills. All it says is medical, yes that helps me a whole hell of a lot!
I’m starting to think that bankruptcy is my only way out. Because of Google my income from blogging sucks compared to what it could be. If I had the income I should have I could pay off all of my debt and start on my student loans withing 4 months. Yes I’m really pissed at google now and I hope their stock gets to the point where they have to have a buyout. They suck and I hate them.
Anyway, I’m just really frustrated. I can’t find work because I’m either over qualified or under qualified. I can’t pay any of these bills I have and when I do another pops up in it’s place and is usually more then the one I payed off. I’m now understanding why people go out and kill each other, they are frustrated and tired of trying and getting no where. (Don’t worry I’m not going to go on a shooting rampage) I will go and work out until my blood sugar gets really low or I finally wear out the frustration. I really just don’t know what to do.

I think that life is crazy in general, but sometimes I think my life as a design student it even more crazy then my life was before. Now instead of going out with friends and drooling over some hot guy I sit at home and drool over Danze faucets and red paint.
I enjoy what I’m doing though and I think that is the main thing. If I hadn’t started school I would have been stuck at a dead end job and would never have started blogging. I’ve learned a ton about things that I never would have thought a designer must know, like what the little round disk in the roads mean, not man holes. the really small ones. Those mark the gird of the united states and are used by surveyors to determine where things should be put. Now you know. I love learning, yes I’m weird I know, but I do.
