In most cases I hate reality TV shows, there are a few though that I do watch, like anything on HGTV and food network. I also have found myself watching American next top model, just because. I did miss the last season though so maybe I’m over it. I was reading on yahoo today that a blogger is not happy with these shows, well I’m sure they are not the only one, as I am not happy with most of them.

Their big issue seemed to be that most of these shows really show people with bad morals or major self image issues. I think one reason I liked top model is because Tara has always wanted to bring in bigger healthy models. Yes the industry works against it, but eventually they will crack. At least I hope so. I think that many people, not just girls need to realize that models are usually extremely unhealthy and that instead of trying to look like them we need to be healthy.

I really just wish that tv stations would bring back the good family comedies and get rid of most of the reality TV junk. I’m so tired of it. Yes I want to watch some guy who’s married drool over a girl that is only about 18 and has big boobs. No thanks I can see that at home. I also don’t want to see some millionaire trying to find a wife on tv. Does he really need help, I don’t think so, I think someone just wants to be on tv.

I thought TV was suppose to take you away from reality for a while, it just seems like were getting too much real and not enough fun and relaxing. I don’t mind the drama/comedy routine that shows like Ugly Betty have going on, but we need more like that, more that make us laugh because it’s funny, not because we think the person is dumb.

I love taking collage classes they really make you think and they give me something to write about at 8:45 in the morning. What am I going on about today? Well the increase in women getting cosmetic surgery to look like the women on TV. This is a topic I have talked about in 3 different classes so far this past year so I’m thinking it’s a huge problem.

I’m going to go from personal experience with this one. All of my life I have been overweight and a little depressed because of it. I was one of those teens that thought if I looked like that girl on TV everyone would like me. They would want to be my friend. Instead of doing what some girls do I did what the rest of them do. I ate to make myself feel better. Chocolate cake and ice cream can do wonders to make you feel like your okay. Now I’m 25 years old and diabetic. Do I blame the TV? A little, if they had shown bigger girls and not tiny models and actresses I may have felt better. Even if they were just normal sized girls I would have felt better because the size difference would not have been as drastic.

Some people say the media should change their ways and show healthy models, but many mostly men that I have talked to say they should just keep it the way it is. Thanks guys! I have noticed that they are changing things, women are shown at a more healthy weight and even the fashion industry is getting in on it. There is still some improvement needed but it’s going in the right direction.

So I’m asking you all, what do you think, should the media change it’s ways and show bigger women healthy women or should things stay the same?

I am really really tired and I was hoping to go to sleep, but my poor mom is having chest pain and we can’t figure out what it is, she can’t breath well it hurts to sit down, she can’t lay down. Pretty much she’s miserable when she’s trying to relax. The only time it goes away is when she stands up.

So now I’m waiting to see if she wants to go to the hospital. I have to drive her so I’m hoping I’m awake enough. I will probably sleep in my cloths I had on today just in case. I’m worried about her but she took some pain meds and is waiting to see if they work better. I’m thinking it may be better if I sleep on the couch.

Anyway since I’m up I decided to check out my online class again and found some interesting things. One person was talking about market research that he found that said young girls are extremely influenced by what they see on TV. This got me thinking. There are many girls my little brother knows that think they are fat, there maybe a size 7 or 8 and they see themselves as fat. I don’t get it. I guess I’m a cow compared to them. I really just hate what the media has done to young girls. That is one reason I’m fat. I gave up and decided I was never going to look like that, by that time I was so depressed that it really didn’t matter. I wish things could change, but as one of the men said, he doesn’t see why they need to: “Men have a right to look at good looking women and should be able to.” It’s that mindset that is preventing change.

So I’m finally watching the race and there was a huge wreck already, they have red flagged it ( put the race on hold) until the mess is cleaned up. They don’t do this often so if you don’t watch NASCAR, you can get an idea it’s bad. There was fire and a car flipped and I sat there with my mouth dropped to the floor.

So anyway I decided to get online and write about it. What was kinda funny about the whole thing is that my mom asked how much their life insurance was, because they were worried that one of the drivers was hurt. I wonder what their term life insurance quote would be! okay so I’m weird, but I really don’t want to know how much they pay, of course they may not pay much, it may be a perk of the job who knows.

Anyway, now I’m sitting here wondering whats going to happen next, they are talking about how bad the track is right now so who knows how long they will be racing today. At least I have the Oscars to watch if they stop, if they don’t I will be flipping between the two.

I would love to get a new flat screen TV. My sister thinks I’m nuts because I want to put it on my wall. Many people do it and it can save space. Also if you plan it right you can hide all of those ugly cords and keep the wall looking clean. All you would need is a tv mount and a good electrician and cable guy.

I have just always liked the look of a TV on the wall. It seems so much cleaner and modern looking, but it also fits in with anything. I don’t know maybe I am crazy!

I think I fixed my TV. Kinda. It works most of the time now. As long as I don’t turn it off. If I do usually I hit mute 3 times and the volume shows up so I can change it!

I’m still going to be buying a new TV eventually. I found one at walmart for $400 that will work well when I move. The TV I have now is smaller anyway and I have been wanting a new one for a few years. So this isn’t a new idea. Of course the TV will be waiting until I get a new car. That right now is much more important.

I am really hoping that soon I can get a new TV. I’m thinking of waiting on paying a few bills, there already on my credit so it can’t get any worse, and buying a new TV. Why, well last week my mother reminded me that we had hook ups for the satellite upstairs. I don’t get to watch TV much because well, my brother is always watching it. Even though he has the satellite in his room. So I tried hooking it up I got all the cables out and hooked it to the TV and it won’t work. I think they lied when they said it was cable ready, the TV is 6 years old though so I’m not sure if it’s the TV or not. I got it cheep at walmart.

Anyway this is not the big reason I need a new TV, I can live without the satellite it would just be nice to have. What is the problem. Well last night I was babysitting while my parents and sisters had a talk. One of those talks I wanted nothing to do with so I was upstairs with the baby. I went to feed her so I couldn’t do much of anything but sit there. I turned on my TV and what happened. I can’t turn down the sound. The volume on the remote was not working. I could turn it on or off, change channels and other things, but I could not use the sound. I figured the remote stunk. So I go to the TV and the same thing happened. I can’t move the sound, but I can change the channel. Normally this would not be a problem, but the sound is on full blast. So I can’t watch TV at all right now. Kinda sucky.

I don’t watch it much anyway, but I do like a couple of shows so I’m still going to think and debate about this. I have a few hours before my trip to Walmart with my sister.
